You can’t read the news this week without seeing evidence of the importance of voter protection:
• Rolling Stone reported that at least 70 pro-Trump election-denialists are working as election officials in 16 counties in key battleground states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
• On Tuesday, an election-denialist won the Republican primary for Maricopa County Recorder – one of the most populous counties in Arizona.
• And the Georgia Secretary of State unveiled a new online “voter registration cancellation” form that requires only basic information to begin the process of canceling a voter’s registration. As the Democratic Party of Georgia said, the form is “ripe for abuse by right-wing activists who are already submitting mass voter challenges meant to disenfranchise Georgians.”
All of that happened this week.
The obvious bad news: it’s obvious that the election denialists are doubling down and ramping up their attacks.
The good news you might not know: voter protection teams are already on the ground in battleground states like Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina – and they’re fighting for voters in real time.
At Power the Vote, our mission is to support the people who are on the front lines of democracy, day in and day out – so that they’re ready to roll and challenge anti-voter policies as they happen.
It’s never been more important.
Please contribute today, and help us support these teams doing such critical work.
