Expanding the Community of America, AmericaOffering a 15% Discount to Encourage Your Participation
Dear Friend, Can you believe it’s not quite two weeks since President Joe Biden made the patriotic decision to endorse his vice president, Kamala Harris? The jolt of energy and enthusiasm has been seismic and deeply encouraging. In turn, it’s been exciting to see America, America’s accelerating overall growth and particularly the impassioned engagement of our community. This is such a critical time to build alliances, enrich our thinking, look toward a positive future, and motivate our various networks to do what they can to defeat the malignant danger of Donald Trump and his craven, anti-democratic enablers. It’s why I have taken a leave of absence from my university work so that I can focus all my energies on this work for democracy and expanding America, America—to both highlight positive advances and push back against the dark forces that relish a future defined by cruelty, violence, power and retribution. This includes not only writing regular essays (three times a week) and Snapshot posts keyed to breaking events, but also producing the new Trump Watch and ongoing Media Misses video series. I’m taking the liberty here to ask you to become a paid subscriber to help sustain and expand this work—indeed, to encourage more engagement with our growing community. And I’m offering a 15% discount for the next three days in hopes of encouraging your participation. (That’s $42.50, averaging a mere $3.54 a month.) In addition to full access to the thoughtful and dynamic comments sections, this makes possible more essays, more audio posts, more video essays and conversations, as well as a new weekly live chat feature exclusively for paid subscribers starting this week. By Tuesday, we will learn who is Kamala Harris’s chosen running mate. Today’s Saturday Prompt on the VP’s possible pick has spurred over 300 comments in the first hours, one sign of how fired-up this community is. So is the intense engagement with two recent posts about Kamala’s candidacy: “Why Not Decency and Compassion?” and “A Joyful Campaign Ahead.” I suspect that energy will only increase in the weeks and months ahead. Whether you become a paid subscriber or not, do know that I am grateful for your involvement with the America, America community. And if you are a senior citizen on a fixed income or an educator, reach out to let me know if you would like a half-price subscription. Even as Trump’s campaign appears to be faltering, let’s not doubt there will be some tough days to come. But let’s also remain clear that we can accomplish more together than we can individually. We have the ability to determine the outcome of November’s elections, just three months from now. Upward and onward, Steven |
