Urgent Update: What you need to know about J.D. Vance

 

Dear Fellow Massachusetts Democrats, By now, you may have heard the news, Donald Trump has announced J.D. Vance as his Vice Presidential pick for the upcoming election. This is a move that underscores Trump’s continued commitment to MAGA policies and ideologies that many of us find deeply troubling. J.D. Vance, a controversial figure in his own right, has consistently aligned himself with far-right viewpoints that threaten the progress we've fought so hard to achieve. From his staunch opposition to reproductive freedom to his inflammatory rhetoric on immigration and social justice issues, Vance represents a continuation - and potentially an escalation - of the divisive and regressive MAGA policies we saw during Trump's presidency. Here are a few important things to know about J.D. Vance: J.D. Vance supports a nationwide abortion ban and referred to exceptions for rape and incest as “two wrongs don’t make a right.” Vance has called Donald Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda full of “good ideas,” and as a Vice President would make it his mission to implement Project 2025. Vance has called Social Security and Medicare “the biggest roadblocks to any kind of real fiscal sanity.” Vance admitted he would not have certified the 2020 election results, fully embraced election denialism, excuses away the violence of January 6, and even endorsed a January 6 rioter for Congress. This choice further highlights the need for us to double down on our efforts to promote a vision for our country based on humanity, truth, and justice. J.D. Vance has already shown he will throw out all previous positions to satisfy Donald Trump. If the moment comes again for the Vice President to choose between Trump and the Constitution, we cannot trust J.D. Vance to do the right thing. It is imperative that we mobilize, organize, and communicate the stark differences between our values and the destructive path that a Trump-Vance administration would represent.   You can take action now, and pitch in to support the Biden-Harris ticket and defeat the MAGA agenda.   We are at a pivotal moment in our nation's history. The choice of J.D. Vance as Vice Presidential candidate is a stark reminder of the challenges we face, but it also serves as a call to action. Let us rise to this occasion with renewed determination and a unified spirit.   Onward,
