Alexei Navalny death latest: Putin critic’s wife says Kremlin ‘waiting for novichok poison’ to leave his body

Yulia Navalnaya accuses Vladimir Putin of murdering husband as she vows to reveal names of killers

Alexei Navalny’s wife has accused the Kremlin of waiting for traces of the Novichok nerve agent to disappear from his body as she vowed to reveal the names of his killers.

In a video message on Monday, Yulia Navalnaya said: "Vladimir Putin killed my husband... We know exactly why Putin killed Alexei three days ago. We will tell you about it soon.”

It comes as the bruised body of the Putin critic is believed to have been delivered to a morgue at the Salekhard District Clinical Hospital, an anonymous experienced paramedic told the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta Europe on Sunday.

However, Mr Navalny’s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, and his lawyers were blocked from accessing the morgue on Monday morning, his spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Meanwhile, the widow of Alexander Litvinenko, who died in 2006 after being poisoned in London with Polonium 210, told Sky News the Russian President had “killed the most prominent politician and the hope of a new Russia” as she called for support from the West for critics of the “monster” Putin.

Estonian president: NATO and EU can’t carry on like it’s peacetime

Excerpts:
Democracy itself is a threat to Russia’s current regime, which means every democratic state poses a threat to it. Thus, it is fruitless to base our strategies on an expectation that fundamental change will happen in Russia soon.
This is a decisive moment for our generation. If we fail to show determination, we will be seen as weak. And as history has shown, weakness doesn’t lead to peace.
Alliances are what democracies do best. Authoritarian regimes have never been effective in maintaining them because for autocrats, cooperation is based only on short-term needs — not values. The democratic world does it better, it’s our strength.
And now it’s time to put that strength to good use. We need to make sure our values — freedom, democracy, welfare and security — will be guaranteed for the transatlantic community for generations to come.
Ukraine is capable of winning this war. It has already been proving for a decade now that a smaller country can resist a bigger one, if its friends assist. Estonia has calculated that if every European country contributes just 0.25 percent of its GDP toward Ukraine in the coming years, Ukraine will be victorious. Then, we can call Russia’s bluff that it can maintain this fight for much longer.

Republicans LOSE THEIR MINDS over prosecutor's announcement

No Lie podcast episode 196: The media and Republicans lose their minds over what one rightwing prosecutor said about Joe Biden. Merrick Garland finding an avowed Republican to handle an investigation into a Democratic president during an election year defies logic. We need to stop trying to WIN OVER Republicans with displays of goodwill. It's never going to happen.

Michael Cohen suggests Trump’s mounting legal fees make him ‘thoroughly compromised’: ‘He is for sale’

By Sarah Fortinsky

Michael Cohen — who long served as former President Trump’s personal lawyer and fixer — warned Sunday of the potential risk of sending Trump back to the White House with mounting legal fees and financial liabilities.

“We need to be very careful about him as a potential president because he is for sale,” Cohen, now an outspoken critic of the former president, said in an interview on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” on Sunday.

“He needs to figure out where he is going to raise $500-plus million over a short period of time,” Cohen continued.

Cohen’s warning comes as Trump, the leading 2024 GOP presidential candidate, was found liable Friday for nearly $355 million in penalties in a civil fraud case in New York that delivered a severe blow to his family business.

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) sued Trump and his business in 2022, alleging the former president falsely altered his net worth on key financial statements to receive tax and insurance benefits. James also alleged that Trump sometimes adjusted his assets’ value to obtain more favorable loans and deals, which the state points to as evidence of fraud.

Last month, a federal jury in a different civil case ordered Trump to pay $83.3 million for defaming E. Jean Carroll, adding to the $5 million verdict in an earlier trial that found Trump liable for sexually abusing Carroll and defaming her in separate comments.

When MSNBC host Symone Sanders-Townsend suggested Trump “is open to the highest bidder at this point because the tab keeps being run up,” floating “the Saudis, the Russians,” as options, Cohen agreed.

“Thoroughly compromised, yes,” Cohen said.

Trump was also indicted in four criminal cases, two of which were brought by special counsel Jack Smith, with another each in Georgia and New York. The New York hush money case will be the first to go to trial, and jury selection is slated to start next month. Cohen has been a witness in that case.
