THAT HAS BEEN BANNED ELSEWHERE!

This bull faces sudden terror in a crowded ring.

A bull is pushed into a closed arena where thousands of people are shouting from every side.

The bull does not know where he is.

Within moments, a man on horseback drives a steel lance into the thick muscle between the bull’s neck and shoulders.

The blade cuts deep enough to damage muscle and blood vessels, weakening him on purpose so he will lower his head and charge more slowly.

While he is already bleeding, other men step in and thrust barbed spears into his back.

Each spear has hooks that lodge into his flesh.

Deep cuts cause bulls to bleed heavily and suffer intense pain.

Every time he moves, the barbs rip against torn muscle, widening the wounds and causing more blood to pour out.

His breathing grows heavy as his strength drains away, yet the crowd expects him to keep charging.

In the final stage, a sword is aimed between his shoulder blades in an attempt to pierce his heart.

When the blade misses its mark, it slices through lung tissue instead, leaving him gasping for air as blood fills his chest.

Death can take minutes while he remains fully conscious, struggling to breathe on the sand beneath him.

The Secretary General of Jalisco, Salvador Zamora, has the authority to end these spectacles.

Your voice can help pressure him to act before more bulls are forced into the ring.

Bulls suffer fear and weakness in front of spectators.

When bullfights resumed in Mexico after the court suspension was lifted, six bulls were fought and killed in a single day.

Now, in Guadalajara, a new series of bullfights has been approved.

Bulls experience it as pain, fear, and a slow loss of blood in front of cheering spectators.

No animal deserves to be wounded on purpose and displayed while dying.

People in Mexico have protested because they understand the cruelty these bulls go through.

Change is possible.

Your voice adds to the public pressure that has already forced courts and lawmakers to reconsider in other places.

The Secretary General, Salvador Zamora, has the authority to influence whether these spectacles continue in Jalisco.

Stand up for bulls in Jalisco.

Urge the Secretary General to use his power to stop these events and prevent more animals from being stabbed and killed in arenas.

Thank you for taking action for animals.

A rare prison sentence for killing a cat

MIDDLEBORO REVIEW AND SO ON

Someone has finally been held accountable for killing a cat.

In Meriden, Connecticut, a man convicted of killing a cat was sentenced to five years in prison, with the prison time suspended after one year, followed by three years of probation.

Records show the young cat wandered outside his home before being taken and intentionally tortured, and killed.

Investigators later learned that the offender bragged to friends about what he had done.

The case was treated as a felony because the violence was deliberate and repeated, and not an accident or a one-time act.

Unprotected lives are easier to harm.

Connecticut already allows prison sentences for severe animal cruelty.

In this case, the charge was not reduced, and incarceration was included, even though only one year will actually be served unless probation is violated.

The time served is far less than many hoped for, but prison sentences in cases involving cats are still uncommon.

Felony cruelty laws also exist in places like Canada and parts of Europe, yet jail time is still rare.

This Connecticut sentence included it.

Consequences for cruelty are still uncommon.

What happened in this case points to a much larger problem.

Animals who live without protection face the greatest risk, especially when harm happens out of sight.

That risk starts early for animals born into homelessness.

The world's 600 million stray dogs and 87 million stray cats give birth to over 1 billion homeless puppies and kittens every year.

Tragically, those who survive also reproduce, creating another generation of homeless strays and repeating the cycle of suffering year after year.

Protection can begin before suffering does.

Many continue being born into a struggle they never chose.

This is why our mission is to end the #1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a Cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will, in effect, spay or neuter — without surgery.

With your help, we will end this suffering!

Please join us.

Thank you for caring and for helping animals.

Sincerely,
