This past Sunday night in Queens, over 13,000 New Yorkers gathered at the “New York Is Not For Sale” rally to hear from Zohran Mamdani, Alexandria Ocasio‑Cortez and Bernie Sanders.

Here’s what they said — and what it means for us:
- “When you insist on building a coalition with room for every New Yorker… you create a tremendous force.” — Zohran Mamdani
- We’re up against “an insufficient, eroded, bygone political establishment — who, this time, is in the form of Andrew Cuomo — whose pursuit of power has blinded them from what that power is supposed to be used for in the first place: to put the working people of New York City first.” — Alexandria Ocasio‑Cortez
- “In the year 2025, when the people on top have never, ever had so much economic and political power, is it possible for ordinary people, for working class people, to come together and defeat those oligarchs? You’re damn right we can.” — Bernie Sanders
These are incredible, powerful words that capture the magic of the movement we’ve built and the momentum we have. Here’s the truth: momentum matters. A packed stadium matters. But none of that guarantees victory.
Yes, Zohran is leading in the polls. But we cannot treat this like a victory lap. Andrew Cuomo was leading in all the polls in June, but we beat him by outworking him and his right-wing billionaire donors. We can’t allow him to do the same to us.
We need to run this race like we’re five points behind. Because in an election this close, that’s the only kind of urgency that wins.
Your donation will power the final sprint: reaching the neighborhoods we need to reach with research-backed ads and mail pieces and making sure the rally’s energy turns into real votes.
The rally in Queens was huge — but the real work begins after the speeches.
We’re facing opposition backed by money, by machine politics, by “we’ve always done it this way.” The rally showed we’re different. But showing up to rally is not enough on its own.

The fight over extending Covid-era subsidies for Obamacare is shining a spotlight on a growing problem: the staggeringly high cost of health insurance in America. The United States has the most expensive healthcare system in the developed world and the only country without universal healthcare, according to the World Health Organization.
Employer-provided insurance is the most popular, covering 154 million, or 54% of people with insurance. Public insurance, which includes Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans Health Care, accounts for about 36%. Ten percent get insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Eight percent of Americans are uninsured, an historic low.
