Trump’s first post attacking Tom Cotton went up at 12:12 in the morning on Friday, October 2. Later that day, Reuters quoted Republican Sen. John Kennedy calling the clock bill “dead as disco,” and the next morning Trump posted what he said was Cotton’s phone number anyway. Trump Is Destroying The Republican Party. Awesome.

Four things he did to the GOP that no Democrat ever could.

Happy Saturday, thanks for joining me. I have some great news for you today, so I’m glad you’re here.

The midterm elections are just 24 days away, and Trump’s spending them attacking his own party. I’ve worked for campaigns all across the country, and I’ve watched a lot of Republicans lose. I’ve never watched a party’s own leader work this hard to lose.

Before we jump in, lend me your thumb for a second. Hit the like button, then the restack button right next to it. There is someone out there who needs to know Trump and Republicans are imploding. You can be the one who shares that fact with them.

We are completely independent with no advertisers or billionaires here. That’s why we can deliver so many exclusive investigations into Republican candidates. And our organizing is unmatched, with our social media operation—The Watchdog Coalition—reaching millions of people a day, while our pressure campaigns on Congress have delivered more than 882,000 letters from constituents since November 2024. Paid subscribers fund all of that, and they also get to join me for the results live on election night.

Help us sprint through the finish and beyond by joining us today:

He Went After His Own Senator Over Clocks

Trump had one month left to save his majority in Congress. Last Saturday, he decided to go all in on a fight with one of his own senators—over a clock.

Trump wants the country on daylight saving time all year long. GOP Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas doesn’t. So Trump publicly posted what he claimed was Cotton’s cellphone number, told people to call it, and argued that pro golfers need more daylight. Republicans sold their souls for this fool, and he’s blowing their final stretch on clocks and golf because one senator wouldn’t fold.

Trump then wrote this: “Give the Republican Party a Senatorial WIN, for a change!” For a change. The leader of the party just told the country his senators don’t win. By the end of the post he was shouting: “TAKE THE WIN TOM, JUST TAKE THE WIN! YOU NEED IT, AND SO DOES OUR BELOVED REPUBLICAN PARTY!”

That’s a manbaby begging, and for nothing. This week, Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the clock bill Trump wants has “no clear path forward.” A normal politician spends October attacking the other party. Trump can only see whoever told him no last. Every hour he spends fighting his own senators is an hour he’s not attacking ours—and I’ll take every one of them.

He Dumped The Senator Who Could Hold Texas

In Texas, Republicans haven’t lost a Senate race since 1988. All Trump had to do was leave it alone—but that would require him being a grownup.

GOP Sen. John Cornyn held the seat for four terms. But in May, Trump decided to back his challenger, Texas AG Ken Paxton. In 2023, Republicans in the Texas House impeached Paxton on corruption charges, but the state Senate let him keep his job.

Trump put his reasoning in writing: Cornyn “was not supportive of me when times were tough.” A week later, Cornyn lost the runoff.

That’s the new Republican Party that Trump built. You can be corrupt and stay. But if you hurt Trump’s feelings—you’re gone. He doesn’t want senators, he wants a room full of cult members who clap.

A Fox poll late last month had Democrat James Talarico ahead 51% to 49%. Trump told one rally that his side is “worried about Texas.” In San Antonio this week, he warned Texans about a Talarico win: “We’ll never forgive you for what you have done if you let that happen.” One Republican group already burned $131 million helping Paxton—money that’s not being spent in Iowa or Ohio, two toss-ups they also need.

Democrats need four more seats to take the Senate. We’ve spent years trying to make Texas a coin flip. Trump did it for us over a grudge and a bruised ego.

He Chained Every Republican To

 Himself

In Alabama last Friday, Trump told a rally, “Just close your eyes and pretend I’m on the ballot.” He’s not. But the Republicans on the ballot chained themselves to him on purpose. They took his endorsements and voted to keep his war going. They aren’t his victims. They’re his accomplices. And the moment one of them steps out of line, he turns on them.

Ask GOP Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida. Her ad said parts of Trump’s immigration crackdown had gone too far, and that the Hispanic voters who helped elect him “feel betrayed.” He shared more than a dozen attacks on her with his followers, in one sitting. One called her “nothing but a back stabber.” That’s the deal now: go down with him, or get taken down on his social media.

I have no sympathy for her. She thanked him for his endorsement. She helped make the chain that’s attached her to Trump, and now she gets to wear it. And he’s welcome to keep swinging. Six in ten voters don’t like the job he’s doing, and he wants every race in America to be about him. So do I.

He Gave Himself An A-Plus

On October 1, a reporter asked Trump whether Republicans were doing enough to sell his record. “I give us an A+ on the government, on economics, on everything,” he said.

Diesel fuel runs farm tractors and delivery trucks, and its price hit an all-time record high last month. Gas and groceries cost more than a year ago, and most of the country never wanted his war with Iran. He gave himself and his party an A+ anyway.

Later on October 1, he told a crowd in Texas, “The only thing we’re doing badly at is public relations.” He thinks a family’s grocery bill is a PR problem.

Two of his own Senate candidates, Mike Rogers in Michigan and Ashley Hinson in Iowa, got nervous enough to call for keeping more American diesel at home instead of shipping it overseas. “We were never going to do it,” Trump told reporters on October 2.

Then yesterday, after a call with Vladimir Putin, he announced that Russia would ship diesel to “the American and Global Marketplace.” His own candidates got a no, while Putin got a deal.

After all that, Trump’s closing pitch is still to tell Americans who are hurting that they’re fine. It’s one of the worst campaign messages in US history, and it’s great news for us, because every Republican on the ballot owns that lie now.

And this time, he doesn’t get to grade them. We do.

Trump’s doing everything he can to destroy the Republican Party. I think he still remembers how many Republicans turned on him after Jan 6, and now he’s punishing them for it. Whether it’s a plan or just his ego, I don’t really care. I just love to see it. If they lose everything in November, they’ll blame him. They shouldn’t. They handed him the keys and cheered, and now they’re stuck with him until January 2029.

We have just 24 days to go. Trump can lose this election for Republicans, but somebody still has to go win it. That part is us, and we’re working around the clock. The team here at The Dworkin Report has graded Trump honestly since 2016, from helping uncover the Russia scandal to running the first campaign to impeach him. He’s never earned a passing grade from us—and never will.

We still have investigations into Republican candidates to publish before Election Day, and paid subscribers are the reason we’ll finish them.

On election night, Tuesday, November 3, I go live at 8:30 PM Eastern and stay until I can’t keep my eyes open. If Texas comes in the way I think it might, I don’t want you hearing it from anybody else. Join us as a paid subscriber here:

What grade would you give Trump for his second term so far?

Trump told Tom Cotton to “take the win.” What win do you want to wake up to on November 4?

JUST A FEW OF MANY COMMENTS:

Awesome indeed and good riddance GOP.🙏💙🌊

Twenty-four days. I’m so proud of every person who keeps showing up for this fight. We can do this. Onward.

Sam, I can’t wait to see the Repubs out. We have so many really great New Democrat candidates on the ballot. So exciting. The governor races are exciting as well! And slit of down ballot. 🌊🌊

To quote Rick Wilson, “Everything Trump touches dies!”

"Our beloved Republican Party"? What "beloved" Republican Party? Doesn't he mean "My beloved MAGA Party" ('party' is a misnomer, but I'll let it sit here for the moment . . . terrorist group might be more appropriate . . . or the Let's Celebrate Stupidity and Bigotry Party)?

The win I want to wake up to includes Talarico, Turek, Hamilton, Brown, Peltola, and others who can help return character and decency to our weakened, demoralized, ineffective Congress . . . who can help restore our belief that we are a principled nation with allegiance to our Constitution and respect for the rule of law, who will help address the real problems we face, who can help erase the sense of shame so many of us carry with us day in and day out thanks to the actions of this depraved, corrupt, vengeful administration, who believe that governance is not a reality television show but reality itself, and who can help restore international respect for the country we once were.

Agreed.

No seat should be considered unwinnable. Angie Nixon, I'm looking at you.

The majority doesn’t care what grade he gives himself. We know better.

Scott I think Trump is just crazy enough to want to beat down his own party for his perceived treason against him. Good analysis. I’d grade him a big fat F. We have never been weaker or more vulnerable.

Every year, tens of thousands of Americans assist others in bettering their lives. Let’s celebrate that, not these self-absorbed repugnant blowhards.

I give him an F-

It’s important that I share this bc we need it now as well a message to our candidates, I will check first to see if shows here or not. Worth reading

https://www.clintonfoundation.org/press-and-news/clinton-presidential-center/dont-stop/ and this from Clinton’s Foundation

“As President Clinton put it years later, the song is "about tomorrow. It's about hope. It's about thinking about the future."

That belief still drives the work of the Clinton Foundation. It means bringing people together to tackle hard problems, investing in communities, creating opportunity, and finding practical ways to make life better for people around the world. It means believing that progress is possible, and then doing the work to make it happen. “

and the song Don’t Stop Thinking about Tomorrow by Fleetwood Mac

Is there such a thing as an F-??? That is the grade I would give tRump.

The win I insist we wake up to on Nov 4 is a Blue Majority in both the House and Senate… Unquestionable.

I give trump a grade of F-. He should be expelled from school.

What a joy to read this on a lovely autumn Saturday. Scott, I thought the OCTOBER SURPRISE was going to be against Democrats. Looks like the October Surprise has gone the other way….what surprise! 😂

What’s a Republican Party?

I don't mind picturing Trump on the ballot. That just makes me more determined to vote blue across the board.

I will never vote for evil, hate, greed and corruption. That is what the Republican party has become. People who are okay with the evil, hate, greed and corruption and believe all the lies will always vote Republican. Their souls are so far gone.

My dream is to wake up November 4 and find out that the Democrats took Congress and the Senate and that they are hard at work putting articles of impeachment against the entire administration. I imagine all those oligarchs and evil people would then run and go into hiding.

Question: should that happen, who would be in control then?

We actually need 5 seats to compensate for flip-flop Fetterman.

Sent to PA Senators

The Epstein survivors need to be heard until all who abused them are held accountable.

The whole Iranian debacle is a distraction and a disaster. Trump has put America in a hole that will take generations to escape.

I want wake up on Nov. 4th to a big majority in the House and a majority in the Senate. I want David Jolly, Angie Nixon and Darren Soto to have won their races in Florida.

I remember in school, I did not do well in algebra. I didn't understand it, so I didn't put a lot of work into it. When we received our grades, I got a circle red F for Algebra. I was in the ninth grade, and my mom took me by the hand and walked me to that teacher's room. All my friends saw me, I was mortified! That being said, I would give the orange smear a circle red F for every single year he has been in office, first term and second. I want to wake up on November 4 and discover that Democrats swept the House and the Senate! Keep fighting, America! Stay strong and stay safe! Vote BLUE in November!!

Well, after the president and vice president, it would go to the speaker of the house, which, presumably, will be one of our people.

I want to wake up to a bluer heartland (Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska) and a bluer south (Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi). That will really mean this map has flipped on its head and maybe just maybe we can pull ourselves off the authoritarian cliff.

In 1976, Newsweek ran a major cover story questioning whether the Republican Party was collapsing in the aftermath of Watergate, Ford’s pardon of Nixon, internal ideological fracture, and the party’s bleak electoral prospects. After 50 years, it may finally be coming to pass thanks to the most incompetent, corrupt president ever to occupy the White House.
