But judging by the reaction of the corporate media, you'd think the armageddon was at hand after the AIPAC-funded candidates were walloped by Democratic Socialists opposed to the genocide in Gaza and openly embracing a working-class agenda. Corporate-friendly elites say this will cost Democrats the midterm elections. They complain that Mamdani wasn't supposed to "meddle" in congressional races. They insist that swing voters will never vote for a party that supports Medicare for All and raising taxes on billionaires and trillionaires. What a bunch of crap. People are sick and tired of establishment politicians and corporate media telling us that a better world isn't possible. Voters can see for themselves a world where one man's personal wealth can top $1.4 trillion — more than the total economic output of 90% of the countries on the planet — while tens of millions of others live paycheck to paycheck, can barely afford rent, and are just one health emergency away from bankruptcy. Common Dreams was founded to expose the corruption and lies that the corporate media works hard to keep hidden. Wednesday, June 24, 2026 ‘Seismic Victory’ in New York as Mamdani-Backed Progressives Trounce Establishment Dems, AIPAC Cash Three progressive candidates emerged victorious from US congressional primaries in New York on Tuesday, overcoming millions of dollars in spending by corporate interests and AIPAC with grassroots campaigns that centered the working class. The wins marked a clean sweep for Mamdani-backed candidates, each of whom campaigned on Medicare for All, affordable housing, stronger union protections, and an end to US military support for Israel’s genocidal assault on Palestinians. The primary wins for Brad Lander, Claire Valdez, and Darializa Avila Chevalier essentially guarantee them seats in the US House in the heavily Democratic districts. Progressives are rallying behind combat trauma surgeon and veteran Dr. Adam Hamawy in the crowded primary for New Jersey’s 12th district, and we’re less than a week out from Election Day.

He stands firmly against genocide, endless wars, and fascism, and in strong support of Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, affordable housing, and raising the minimum wage.

In the past few days, Dr. Adam was endorsed by Justice Democrats Reps. Summer Lee and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, PA primary winner Chris Rabb, Jewish Voice for Peace Action, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC, led by Reps. Pramila Jayapal, Greg Casar, and Maxwell Frost.

They join a long list of bold progressive leaders and organizations — including Bernie Sanders, Ro Khanna, Delia Ramirez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib — who know Dr. Adam is the best candidate in this race to build working-class power in Congress and deliver for our communities.

But the pro-Israel lobby and corporate interests know that too, which is why they are launching racist, Islamophobic attacks against him in the final days of this race.
