YANKEE INSTITUTE IS A RIGHT WING 'THINK TANK' THE CIRCULATES
'FACTUAL' BUT MISLEADING INFORMATION...IN THIS CASE, I RESPONDED
TO A MISLEADING ARTICLE ABOUT ENERGY & RENEWABLES....
MY REPLY WAS IN 2024 - THE REPORTS ARE NOW OUTDATED SINCE OTHER
NATIONS HAVE PROGRESSED AHEAD OF THE US!
Yankee Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization which successfully conceals its donors.
This report is WARPED & ignores the experiences of other nations.

Here, in a country 13 times the size of Australia, only 4.5 million households have rooftop solar; to be at the same level as Australia, we’d need 47 million households with rooftop solar.
Meanwhile, a group of conservative-leaning New England think tanks is touting their own report today that argues that clean energy sources like wind and solar won’t be able to support the region’s demand, warning that “residents and businesses can expect electricity rates to double, along with rolling blackouts.”

These media sources are slightly to moderately conservative in bias. They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by using appeal to emotion or stereotypes) to favor conservative causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation. See all Right-Center sources.

Founded in 1984, The Yankee Institute for Public Policy is a free market; limited government American think tank based in Hartford, Connecticut, that researches Connecticut public policy questions. According to their about page, “Yankee Institute develops and advances free-market, limited-government solutions in Connecticut. As one of America’s oldest state-based think tanks, Yankee is a leading advocate for smart, limited government, fairness for taxpayers, and an open road to opportunity.”
Read our profile on United States government and media.
The Yankee Institute is a nonprofit 501(c)(3). Funding is derived from donations; however, they do not disclose donors.
In review, the Yankee Institute covers news related to Connecticut. There is minimal use of loaded language such as this: Federal Government Blocks Union Dues Deduction from Home Healthcare Workers’ Paychecks. This article and all others are properly sourced from credible media outlets. Under the Issues tab, they link to current campaigns such as Connecticut Can Work, which advocates for “reforms that will make it easier to hire and work in our state, at no cost to taxpayers.” Finally, the Reports section lists scorecards for the Connecticut Legislature. The Yankee Institute generally advocates for limited government Libertarian-leaning policies.
Overall, we rate the Yankee Institute for Public Policy as right-center biased based on advocacy for a policy that moderately favors the right and High for factual reporting due to proper sourcing of information and a clean fact check record. (D. Van Zandt 7/6/2019) Updated (11/22/2023)
