Millions Plan On Protesting Against Trump and More Great NewsCalifornia fights back, Trump slips (literally), and moreThere’s a ton of noise out there, with a lot of distractions created by the Trump regime. So if you’re looking to cut through all the lies and propaganda to get the truth, you’re in the right place. The Dworkin Report delivers one of the most widely-read daily news briefs in the world, and right now has the #1 News post on Substack. Our social media campaigns are unmatched, and our enormous Contact Congress campaign is contacting Senators and Reps 1,000’s of times a day. We are 100% independent, and always will be—which means our work is entirely funded by our readers. So if you haven’t yet, please become a paid subscriber today, and help us keep up this great work: Let’s dive in. Yesterday, Trump stumbled up a flight of stairs while boarding Air Force One. I’ve yet to see corporate media covering this at a constant, acting like it’s the crime of the century. Probably because they’re scared of Trump. We also saw Trump’s broken brain on full display—when he thanked the National Guard for “a job well done” in Los Angeles, before they even showed up. In addition to that, Trump is unhinged enough to call the recent protests some kind of “invasion.” The only real invasion happening, is the Trump regime raiding communities. Dem Rep. Jasmine Crockett spoke out loud and clear, saying: “First they illegally deport citizens. Then they unleash ICE to terrorize communities. Now they’ve got the National Guard in L.A. to silence protestors. This ain’t about law and order. This is what authoritarianism looks like.” We need everyone speaking out like this. In an interview late last night, CA Gov. Gavin Newsom spoke directly to Trump: “Where's your decency … stop … rescind this order, it’s illegal and unconstitutional … it's immoral. You're creating the conditions that you claim you're solving—and you’re not.” And in response to border czar Tom Homan’s recent threats to arrest Newsom, he responded saying: “Come after me. Arrest me. Let's just get it over with, tough guy. Ya know, I don't give a damn. But I care about my community.” Meanwhile, demonstrators gathered outside Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton yesterday. They were there to protest failing Defense Sec. Pete Hegseth’s threat of deploying troops to silence peaceful protesters in Los Angeles. One of the organizers, Air Force Veteran Patrick Saunders, said: “We want them to see the citizens that they could potentially be ordered to march against ... everyday people just like the families that they come from.” The city of Glendale, CA, has also taken a stand against this abuse of power—terminating its longstanding contract with DHS, for local police to hold detainees on ICE’s behalf. Calling the immigration raids “divisive,” a statement from the city said: “The decision to terminate this contract is … rooted in what this city stands for—public safety, local accountability, and trust.” Mark your calendars—next Saturday, June 14th, there will be at least 1,800 protests, on the same day as Trump’s authoritarian military parade. Millions are expected to attend. Trump’s trying to scare everyone into staying home, but he won’t be able to stop these peaceful protests. If you’re showing up, stay vigilant—if you can’t be there, please amplify video and photos of the event online. I never like talking about Trump-brand Dracula Stephen Miller, but I want to share how his uncle, David Glosser, started speaking out against him. Glosser said Miller is an “immigration hypocrite,” stating if Miller’s family wasn’t able to immigrate to “America when we did, Stephen Miller would not exist.” In an interview with Anderson Cooper, 60 Minutes journalist Scott Pelley didn’t hold back about what it’s going to take to win this fight against Trump’s tyranny. “The most important thing is to have the courage to speak, to not let fear permeate the country so that everyone suddenly becomes silent,” Pelley said. “If you have the courage to speak, we are saved. If you fall silent, the country is doomed.” When Cooper asked if he still believes in journalism, Pelley stated: “It is the only thing that’s gonna save the country … You cannot have democracy without journalism. It can’t be done.” Pelley is right. That’s why our revolution in journalism is so important—and the need to support independent journalists is more critical now, than ever before. AND MAGA VOTERS SPREAD THE LIES!
Ted Cruz, MAGA Accounts Spread Old Videos to Smear ICE ProtestSeveral pro-Trump accounts were hit with Community Notes
Written by JD Wolf Trump’s brutal ICE roundups have caused unrest in the Los Angeles area, and pro-Trump and right-wing accounts are flooding social media with disinformation aimed at painting Los Angeles as lawless and dangerous. The campaign, led by MAGA-aligned influencers, includes posting out-of-context footage, years-old videos, and outright fabrications to justify the sweeping arrests and vilify the city’s status as a sanctuary jurisdiction. Ted Cruz received a Community Note for amplifying a video posted by actor James Woods, which used a May 2020 video of police cars on fire to counter claims that the protests against ICE were peaceful. Woods embedded the now-deleted 5-year-old video from another account (Concerned Citizen) that frequently receives fact-checks for attacks on NASA and for spreading unfounded conspiracies. That same video was shared by multiple accounts, garnering millions of views. One of the accounts, DramaAlert, is verified on Twitter as an official organization. ![]() Kevin Dalton, another account that defends Trump and frequently attacks Gavin Newsom, was hit with a Community Note which said the video he posted of looting to frame the current unrest was actually from last year. Dr. Jane Ruby, another account popular on the right wing, claimed a robot dog video was recent, but it was actually from a Memorial Day parade. Pro-Trump account “Kate” shared a video of fired-up Los Angeles soccer fans chanting and described it as “definitely an insurrection and threats against democracy.” The video from May had a graphic overlay that claimed: “Los Angeles 06/07/25, should we view this as an insurrection?” Pro-Trump commentator Benny Johnson, who was caught being paid by a Russian operation, claimed ICE raided a Home Depot but was hit with a Community Note citing a Fox News reporter saying that DHS didn’t raid the home supply store, but were staging nearby. “US Homeland Security News,” one of many verified accounts that have names mimicking official government entities and officials, posted:
However, according to a Community Note, the “photo of bricks is taken from a Malaysian building supply company” and “does not represent current events in LA.” Pro-Trump account “AlphaFox,” which has over 715,000 followers, deleted this post after getting a Community Note. The account claimed an ICE agent ran over a protester, resulting in brain damage and death. The video didn’t show anyone getting run over. Many MAGA-aligned accounts have a long track record of spreading false information during high-profile events, often exploiting moments of crisis to advance political narratives and boost engagement. Similar waves of disinformation surfaced during California’s wildfires and in the wake of major storms and flooding, where old or doctored footage was passed off as real-time chaos. The examples above are just a glimpse into the daily onslaught of misleading posts that flood social media—some of which are only corrected after being widely circulated. Trump sending Marines into Los Angeles NO KINGS! SATURDAY JUNE 14
Donald Trump has ordered 700 active-duty Marines into Los Angeles.
This is a grave moment for our nation.
Trump manufactured a supposed crisis by raiding workplaces throughout Los Angeles and then using the resulting protests as an excuse to send in the National Guard (against the wishes of the city’s mayor and the state’s governor).
Now Trump is deploying the U.S. military against American citizens on our own soil. For the “crime” of exercising our First Amendment right to speak up against tyranny.
This is what authoritarianism looks like.
Also, while details are murky, Trump certainly appears to be breaking the law. Unless Trump invokes the Insurrection Act — which he has not (yet) done, and which would be brazenly inappropriate (though not surprising) for him to do in this situation — federal law forbids the use of active-duty military for domestic law enforcement.
See our earlier note (copied below) for more about what’s going on in Los Angeles.
And don’t think this matters only for people in Los Angeles — Trump’s authoritarianism will come for all of us if we don’t stand up to him together.
Onward!
******
Donald Trump is deploying at least 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles — against the wishes of the city’s mayor, Karen Bass, and California’s governor, Gavin Newsom.
Newsom accurately called what Trump has done “purposefully inflammatory” and “a serious breach of state sovereignty.”
- This started on Friday, when the Trump regime raided workplaces throughout Los Angeles. Many people — rightly outraged at the regime’s ongoing campaign of militant xenophobia and unlawful deportations — took to the streets in peaceful protest.
- Trump then used the peaceful demonstrations against his own misguided raids as an excuse to send in the National Guard — an authoritarian overreach that is generating even more justified dissent.
- As is so often the case, law enforcement has overreacted. According to news reports, peaceful protesters have been tear-gassed and shot with rubber bullets at close range. David Huerta, the well-known leader of the Service Employees International Union in Los Angeles — who was present at one raid as a peaceful observer — was arrested (and wounded in the process).
- Some “news” outlets are going out of their way to show anything that makes the protests look unruly or out of control. The overwhelming evidence from numerous legitimate sources on the ground in Los Angeles is that demonstrators are committed to peaceful resistance and that law enforcement is instigating the vast majority of confrontations.
- Trump also told his sycophantic Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, to use regular military troops “as necessary.” Hegseth has already said that active duty Marines stationed just 100 miles from Los Angeles are “on high alert.”
- On Sunday, Trump refused to rule out invoking the Insurrection Act and said this to reporters: “We’re going to have troops everywhere.” We should not be surprised — furious, but not surprised — if Trump uses all of this as a pretense to declare martial law.
It has been 60 years since a president deployed the National Guard to a state against the wishes of that state’s governor. The last time was in 1965, when President Lyndon B. Johnson deployed the National Guard — to protect civil rights activists — against the wishes of Alabama’s infamously segregationist governor, George Wallace.
Along with California, 22 other states currently have a Democratic governor. All 22 of those governors signed an open letter standing with Governor Newsom and condemning what Trump is doing in Los Angeles, correctly declaring it to be “an alarming abuse of power.”
