Tuesday, January 14 North Carolina voters rally at protest to fight GOP election challenge To draw attention to Jefferson Griffin's (R) attempt to disenfranchise 60,000 North Carolinians and overturn his loss in the state Supreme Court race, volunteers gathered at a rally today and read aloud the list of the affected voters. “This is a national tragedy because these are legal votes from legal voters, and they’re being challenged because someone doesn’t like the results of the election,” said Kate Barr (D), who ran for the state Senate in 2024 and lost. The Republican National Committee (RNC) also challenged 60,000 ballots in the state’s 2024 election. A special election will be held Jan. 28 in a different state House district, and that race will impact control of the chamber. California Democrats appeal dismissal of challenge to local voter ID law California Attorney General Rob Bonta (D) and Secretary of State Shirley Weber (D) appealed the dismissal of their legal challenge to Huntington Beach’s voter ID requirement to a state appeals court. They argued that the initiative, approved by voters during the March 2024 primary election, violates existing state law.
