A peculiar story shared by former Fox News host and conservative commentator Tucker Carlson — in which he recalled being physically attacked and mauled by a demon at night sometime last year — lit up social media on All Hallows’ Eve, with some users suggesting the spooky account “clears up a lot.”

“I had a direct experience with it,” Carlson told conservative writer Rod Dreher in a video interview. “I got attacked while I was asleep with my wife and four dogs in the bed and mauled, physically mauled.”

After Dreher asked him during the interview if his attacker was “a demon,” Carlson responded by saying, “Yeah, by a demon, or something unseen that left claw marks on my side,” which the right-wing TV personality added are still present over a year and a half later.

The story was met with widespread mockery on X.

“The demon that attacked Tucker Carlson,” Netflix writer Logan Rees posted to X above a photo of a man dressed in a demon costume while brandishing a chainsaw. The caption: "Gay marriage!"

"Tucker Carlson says he was physically attacked by a demon in bed at night: ‘I had four claw marks on either side underneath my arms and on my left shoulder. And they’re bleeding.’ Totally normal and not weird at all,” the X account Republicans Against Trump wrote.

“Tucker says that he was attacked by a demon in his sleep who left four claw marks underneath his arms and on his shoulder, and he knows he didn’t claw himself because he sleeps on his side,” Richard Hanania, president of the Center for the Study of Partisanship and Ideology, posted on X. “This clears up a lot. He seems to have a case of mild schizophrenia.”

“My best guess is he had some splainin’ to do to his wife and made up a story that he’s really committed to,” according to a social media post by Jim Stewartson.

Author and New York Times opinion columnist Paul Krugman posted a close-up photo of his cat and added: “In fairness to Tucker Carlson, I, too have been clawed by a demon. (His food bowl was empty).”

Meanwhile, CNN correspondent Donie O’Sullivan mused at Alex Jones confirming in his own social media post that Carlson “told me this story over a year ago in confidence.”

“Finally, a reliable source confirms the Tucker Carlson being mauled by a demon in his bed story,” O’Sullivan quipped.
