Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has extended additions plea offers after defendant Scott Hall agree to plead guilty and testify against his co-conspirators. Given that Hall is likely to have directly and sharply incriminating evidence against his codefendant Sidney Powell, might Powell be the next domino to fall, please guilty and cooperate?

The last week has been *crazy* — so let's take a minute to recap.

First: Extreme Republicans in the House nearly shut down the government, but Dems came to the rescue + made sure working folks wouldn't get screwed by the GOP's chaos.

Then: Those same Republicans pitched a fit and threw out Kevin McCarthy, ensuring that no business can get done until they get their sh*t together.

Now: The GOP is… blaming Democrats for their own Chaos Caucus?? 🙄

It's only been a few months and the fringe right has all but derailed our government. It's clear: We can't trust this Republican Party to fight for working folks.

(🤢)     I can't believe we have to even ponder the idea of a Speaker Jim Jordan, yet here we are.    If you recall, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi did not even agree to sit Jim Jordan on the Jan 6th Committee because he was one of the main actors under investigation for actions on that horrific day.     Now, MAGA Republicans have come full circle and are ready to get behind Jim Jordan to make him the next Speaker of the House. Today is not a pretty day in America and it's a day that will go down in the history books. The question that we must ask ourselves is what do we do next?    There is only one option: we must take back the House and restore civility to Congress and to the country as a whole.    Do you think Jim Jordan is going to reach across the aisle and work on key issues that impact every single American from coast to coast, not to mention Alaska and Hawaii? Jim Jordan is too busy preparing his yelling voice for the fraudulent impeachment investigation so he can stay in the good graces of his buddy Donald Trump.   The American people are looking to Washington now, mostly with disgust and a little bit of confusion. I got so many texts and calls from friends and family yesterday asking me "Hey, why did you guys remove the Speaker?" First things first, WE did not remove the Speaker. Our side did not do this, this was a Republican ouster and we were merely bystanders watching the circus unfold like everyone else.    Of course, no Democrat voted to save Kevin McCarthy. That man sold his soul a long time ago and he made his bed. We do not feel sorry for him, nor feel any sense of obligation to bail him out. He has been a disaster for our country in every possible sense.    Some folks also asked: "OK, now what?" That is a more complicated question... We have never had this happen before and we are all trying to navigate the murky waters we find ourselves in. As far as we Democrats are concerned, this opens up the opportunity to reach out to the American people, especially those on the fence, unsure what side they want to support in 2024, to prove to them we can govern responsibly because our members are driven by a sense of duty, while the MAGA GOP, well, just turn on the tv and you can see for yourself what drives them.    Just make sure you don't sit next to one of them during a play, things can get very awkward very fast...   We cannot let this moment in time go to waste. Let’s send a message to AIPAC

 

Since before I took office, right-wing billionaires have put a target on my back. Last year, around this time, they spent millions of dollars on malicious attack ads. And earlier this summer, AIPAC even announced that they were looking around for a primary challenger — again. And today, my first opponent in this primary is launching her campaign.

I ran to be a voice for the voiceless, to finally represent the Black, brown, poor and marginalized communities left behind by politicians in Washington who care more about helping billionaires and lobbyists than working class single parents like my mom. That’s the real reason they’re attacking me–their billionaire Republican donors want to keep progressive working class Black women who they’ll never be able to control. 

Let’s send a message together to AIPAC and all corporate, conservative superPACs invested in thwarting our progress, that we will not back down. Can you donate $5 today to show the strength of our grassroots-powered campaign?

I didn’t take office just to constantly defend myself from dark money operations, but the fact is that corporate, Republican-backed PACs like AIPAC see Black women fighting for progress as a threat to their interests. And for the sake of our movement, I will continue to fight with everything I’ve got for the people of PA-12. I owe our movement that much.

We all deserve a reflective, inclusive democracy. It’s the reason I’ve spent all these years helping build a people centered, grassroots, electoral movement for all in Western Pennsylvania. This isn’t just about this election; our movement is in it for the long haul. To research anything at the REGISTRY OF DEEDS, you had to guess what floor the books would be found on, everything was in books. If someone was waiting to use the copy machine, stacks of books were on tables for the title searchers.

Probate records were on index cards.

Older records were on microfiche - copies of parchment paper with hills and valleys.

Did you notice that everything is now ON LINE?

With new technology, the hills and valleys of old parchment was corrected.

Democrats at least have the sense to recognize that the Repubican Party is ANTI-DEMOCRACY.
