A powerful wind is blowing through our nation, whispering tales of resistance, resilience, and renewal. In every whisper, the silent yet insistent voices of workers echo, building a resounding chorus that will not be ignored. From the bustling warehouses of Amazon to the tranquility of nursing homes, workers are rising, demanding the respect, compensation, and conditions they rightfully deserve. I am proud to share with you the official launch of We Are Somebody, a multifaceted movement forged in the heat of our nationwide labor revival, dedicated to championing workers’ rights across America. Why “We Are Somebody”? Because every worker, whether a nurse, a teacher, a mechanic, or a warehouse employee, brings immense value and dignity to our society. They are not just cogs in a corporate machine – they are individuals who deserve to be seen, heard, and valued. In partnership with the Amazon Labor Union, led by the fierce and relentless labor leader Christian Smalls, we are embarking on a journey to ensure that the stories of workers do not fade away but rather are amplified, celebrated, and acted upon. Together, we are not just allies; we are a symbol of a persistent solidarity against the towering tide of corporate greed. In the words of Christian Smalls, “The true might of the labor movement is anchored in grassroots, people-driven collaboration... know that we are united, vigilant, and determined to end your insatiable corporate greed.” Here are our key commitments as we forge ahead:
But this is not merely a campaign. It is a call to action. Today, we invite you to step into this new chapter with us, to stand shoulder to shoulder in ensuring that “We Are Somebody” reverberates through every picket line, every negotiating table, and every workers' household. We’re asking you to: Join Us: Be part of our mission by signing up to our newsletter, joining our events, and participating in our campaigns. With every shared story, every act of solidarity, and every echo of our collective voice, we will build an America where workers are not merely survivors of an inequitable system but thrivers in a society that respects and honors their worth. So, here's my invitation to you: Let's rise together. Stand with us, support the workers on the frontlines, and amplify our collective voice. Remember, every worker is somebody, you are somebody, and together, We Are Somebody. Keep the faith and keep the fight, Nina Turner |
