Let’s talk inflation.

 

Hey,     Here in Las Vegas, we’re paying over $5 for a gallon of gas, the price of food is rising, and life is getting more expensive for regular people and working families like ours. When you turn on any corporate-owned media channel these days, the only thing you’ll hear from talking heads is that it’s inflation crushing the working class.    Here’s the reality though.. Fossil fuel stocks are way up, CEO pay has skyrocketed by more than 30 percent, and the 12 richest men in the world doubled their wealth during the pandemic.    If you ask me, it’s not simply inflation that’s to blame. It’s our status quo leaders, who’ve worked so diligently over the past few decades to create a government of, by, and for the corporate elite.    I’m running for Congress to end all that and put control back in the hands of the people—but with our end-of-month goal just a week away, I still need your support to get there. Let’s be honest. What we have is an economic system that provides socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor and working class.  For years our status quo leadership has been  handing out tax breaks and tax subsidies to every wealthy person that cuts a check to their campaign while the rest of us suffer. Today is Earth Day. I hope you'll join me in taking a moment to appreciate how truly magnificent our planet is – beautiful and complex and awe-inspiring. But we can't stop with reflection. Earth Day must also be a day of action, a day of commitment. Because we need to repeat it as long as necessary, as loudly as we can: climate change is real, and we aren't doing enough to address it. The impacts are going to be increasingly felt the longer we drag our feet, but you already knew that. We've been down this road before. So please also join me today in committing to make the 2022 election focus on climate change, the environment, and the future of humanity. There are climate champions up and down the ballot in every state, Frank. And in 2022, we have to do everything in our power to make sure they're elected. Like many of those folks, I'm proud to have been endorsed by the Sierra Club, both for this election and throughout my career. And I will keep insisting we focus on policies that protect clean air, clean water, and of course the fantastic open spaces we love across Massachusetts and America.
