The Florida Department of Education announced they’re banning dozens of math textbooks that they claim “indoctrinate” kids with subjects like Critical Race Theory. You can’t make this stuff up! And this is just the latest in Republican attempts to wage war on our education system by banning books on a number of issues, including women’s issues, race, LGBTQ issues, and more. They’re trying to whitewash and even erase key parts of history and keep kids from learning about important issues. These efforts to censor and ban these materials will have widespread consequences. Librarians and educators everywhere are rightfully taking a stand against these puritanical book bans, but they’re being attacked for their courage.
