Trump claims the U.S. needs Greenland for national security reasons. But the U.S. already has military installations there. The real reason is that Greenland is rich in oil and mineral wealth. That’s because, while Greenland has bans on certain mining and offshore oil and gas exploration due to environmental concerns, the Trump administration has no such concerns. Trump attempting to acquire Greenland has nothing to do with improving the lives of Americans or Greenlanders. It is another money grab in service of billionaires and their corporations.
