I want to make the most of these final 48 hours

Adam Schiff for Congress

I've got about 15 minutes of free time this morning.

Between my duties in Congress on the intelligence committee and the January 6 committee, and doing everything I can to get out the vote in the final 48 hours of this California jungle primary election, I am burning the candle on both ends.

We're up against a QAnon conspiracy theorist in this race who is supported by Roger Stone and Michael Flynn. We're up against Kevin McCarthy, Donald Trump, and other top Republicans who are trying to smear my name. And we're up against the talking heads at Fox News like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity who paint me as a villain to their nightly audience of millions of MAGA viewers.

Winning this primary with a sizable majority would send a strong message that I'm not going anywhere — and that millions of people are willing to fight back against right-wing misinformation and defend our democracy.

We need to make these final days count. Can you pitch in a few bucks to help us finish strong? I’d be humbled to have your support before I get back out there.

Looks like my 15 minutes are up. Thanks for everything you're doing to support our campaign — and our democracy.

Can you believe this?

Can you believe this?

A Trump supporter just hosted a campaign event for Ilhan’s conservative primary opponent.

Our challenger may call himself a Democrat, but he clearly has no problem aligning with the MAGA crowd when it benefits his campaign.

It should go without saying that Ilhan will never hold a campaign event with a Trump supporter. She has always stayed true to our shared progressive values and always will.

But this campaign event may only be a preview of what’s to come. Last cycle, Trump supporters and conservative donors poured millions into our primary because they know defeating Ilhan in the primary is their best bet at unseating her.

We need to prepare to fight back. Ilhan is counting on grassroots supporters like you — not Trump supporters or corporate PACs — to power our work to win this race and keep fighting for our progressive vision in Congress.

Please, can you chip in $5, $10, or any amount so we can get ready for the tough fights ahead and keep Ilhan’s voice in Congress?

We’ve made incredible progress, but our work is not finished yet. We’re continuing to strengthen our movement for student debt cancellation, Homes for All, a humane public safety system, a Green New Deal, and more — one grassroots donation at a time.

Thank you,

— Team Ilhan

Where your money went

Charles Booker

It’s officially crunchtime.

Now that we’re out of the primary, we’re officially in the race to beat Rand Paul. Team Booker is driving all across Kentucky, knocking on doors, putting up yard signs, meeting voters, and making sure anyone who’s hungry for meaningful change in our Commonwealth turns out to vote.

Here’s photos of Team Booker at Hillbilly Days in Eastern Kentucky that we attended to share our plan to replace Rand Paul:

When you gave $10.00 this is what your contribution helped fuel. From the signs we print, to the volunteers we train to speak with voters, to the gas we put in our cars to travel across Kentucky — everything is funded by grassroots supporters like you.

Would you chip in another $10.00 or anything you can to help us reach our fundraising goal and power our campaign expenses?

To give you an idea of how much it costs to run some of the plans that we have, here’s a quick overview by the numbers.

  • $0.05: The price of reaching one voter in Kentucky. If you chip in $15, we’ll be able to reach 300 Kentuckians. Even $1.50 allows us to reach 30 Kentuckians who may have never heard of Charles Booker before.
  • $15.28: The price of funding one voter registration team. Each of our voter registration teams get clipboards, pens, printed materials to share with voters, and training from our organizing team.
  • $47.59: The price of gas to drive 395 miles — from the furthest point of Kentucky to the other. Our staff and volunteers will be doing a lot of driving to reach every corner of Kentucky to do our organizing work. Contributions from our grassroots team, of any amount, will literally fuel our work.

This is where the money goes. Because we don’t accept a single cent from corporate PACs or special interests, we’re relying on support from you to afford these expenses.

So we have to ask one final time: Will you please chip in again whatever you can afford so we can fund our important organizing work? We’re aiming to raise 7,500 grassroots contributions by the end of the week.

Together,

Team Booker

Remember what the DCCC did when AOC won?

Justice Democrats

Early in 2019, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced that it would be blacklisting vendors, staffers, and organizations that support primary challengers to Democratic incumbents — officially putting the interests of a handful of corporate-backed, conservative Democrats above the will of Democratic voters.

It was a shocking attempt to protect corporate incumbents by blocking working-class progressives from a slew of critical campaign resources. The Democratic establishment created this blacklist after AOC defeated the 4th most powerful Democrat in the House. Why? Because House leadership didn’t want to lose more primaries to Justice Democrats.

Two of our recruits, Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman, still defeated long-time corporate incumbents in 2020 while the DCCC Blacklist was in effect. We were not afraid of the Democratic establishment and we continue to win races despite the odds stacked against us.

The DCCC announced an end to the blacklist after the 2020 elections — it was more of a PR nightmare for them than an effective tool against progressive primaries.

But we’re not surprised House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supported conservative, anti-abortion and pro-NRA Democrat Henry Cuellar against Justice Democrat Jessica Cisneros. Pelosi said, “I support my incumbents. I support every one of them.”

It should matter to Democrats WHO the incumbents are and WHAT they stand for — Cuellar voted against abortion rights, labor rights, AND worked to block Build Back Better, all in the last two years. Those are huge parts of the Democratic agenda. But Pelosi still backed Cuellar.

While we fight for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, corporate Democrats like Pelosi, Cuellar, and many others will try to protect corporate profits and the status quo. Frank, will you donate today to help us defeat the corporate-backed Democratic establishment and its Wall Street-backed candidates?

→ Yes, I can contribute right now to help Justice Democrats overcome the odds and grow the Squad in Congress.

Thank you for all that you do to support our work and our primary candidates.

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats

Round-the-clock activity

POGO Weekly Spotlight

June 4, 2022

This coming week is shaping up to be a busy one with round-the-clock activity on Capitol Hill we will be watching closely.

The House Armed Services subcommittees will begin work on the National Defense Authorization Act, the annual defense bill that authorizes Pentagon spending. We’ll be monitoring any attempts to increase the already bloated budget, as well as efforts to add amendments that would limit defense contractors’ ability to price gouge the federal government and require defense contractors to reveal their true owners.

The House Select Committee on January 6 is also set to hold its first public hearing Thursday. The committee has started soliciting witnesses but the exact agenda for the hearing has yet to be confirmed publicly. One of the committee’s members, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), said the hearings will “blow the roof off this house,” so we’re very curious to see what the committee reveals. We’ll also be looking to see what the Justice Department does with any new information, as we’re concerned the DOJ may shy away from pursuing criminal charges against former President Donald Trump even if they are warranted.

It’s official. Dr. Oz won.

DR. OZ?   HARD TO BELIEVE!
It's time to elect SANE PEOPLE to office!
PLEASE SUPPORT SANE, REASONABLE CANDIDATES WHO WILL WORK TO PROTECT THEIR CONSTITUENTS!

Did anyone predict that a quack celebrity TV doctor was going to run for U.S. Senate in 2022?

You know, I wouldn't believe you if you said you did.

But here we are. Dr. Oz is now the *official* Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.👇👇👇

Dr. Oz gif

Can you rush a split donation of $25 to our campaign right now? We need ALL the online support possible now that Dr. Oz is officially our Republican nominee in the #1 Most Likely to Flip U.S. Senate Seat of 2022.

There are a lot of BAD things about Dr. Oz.

He’s a fraudster who made a fortune by lying to people on TV. He’s a self-funded multi-millionaire. He called Roe v. Wade “wrong” + supports an extreme total ban on abortions with no exceptions for rape or incest.

And look, I never thought this would be a flex, but <checks notes>

I ACTUALLY LIVE IN PA!!!

That’s right. Dr. Oz isn’t even from Pennsylvania, he’s from New Jersey. 🙄

Now that we know we’re running against Dr. Oz, can you make a $10 contribution (or more if you can swing it) to help us flip this seat blue? This race is going to be incredibly expensive, and it’s critical that we keep up with Dr. Oz’s spending.

Price gouging 101

PLEASE SUPPORT KATIE PORTER - A VOICE FOR CONSUMERS!

Katie Porter for Congress

Whether it's $9.99 for bacon (to my kids' dismay) or more than $6 per gallon for gas–big corporations are price gouging Americans. Let me break it down for you:

We know this is price gouging and not just inflation because:

  1. Big Oil is raising gas prices disproportionately higher than the cost of barrels of oil.
  2. Companies like Shell are reporting $9.1 billion in profits last quarter, three times higher than this time last year.

Why hasn't someone stopped them?

  1. Because the federal government doesn't have the ability to investigate price gouging, these powerful corporations are left unchecked (and the money they give to many Republicans certainly helps them keep it that way).

Here's what we need to do to fix it:

  1. Pass legislation (like the bill I introduced–the Consumer Price Gouging Prevention Act) that will make price gouging illegal so that the federal government can hold these bad actors accountable. This bill passed the House but is stalled in the Senate.
  2. Crack down on monopolies which result in higher prices. It's the simple equation you probably learned about in high school economics. You will get a better price for pasta if there are ten big companies in the game rather than two or three.

We need an economy that is strong, stable, and globally competitive. Capitalism requires competition, and I'm proud to keep fighting for an economy that works for working people–not just big corporations.

Katie

Katie is running for re-election in California's 47th district, which includes Irvine and coastal Orange County. This purple district contains an equal number of Democrats and Republicans and is a must-win for Democrats. Consider pitching in today so we have the resources to keep Katie in Congress fighting for working people.

far-right conspiracy theorists are smearing the World Health Organization

The far-right is trying to discredit the World Health Organization (WHO):

  • World health leaders met last week to improve the global COVID-19 pandemic response, save lives, and prepare to better respond to future pandemics
  • Excessively nationalistic responses to the pandemic led to millions of avoidable deaths worldwide. People are still dying due to unequal access to life-saving vaccines
  • So the WHO is working to strengthen coordination among countries and President Biden recently announced the United States is sharing COVID-19 medical technology with the WHO, for global use and manufacture
  • But right-wingers like Tucker Carlson — host of the most-watched cable “news” program in America — are fearmongering to destroy trust in the WHO

Send a message to thank President Biden for supporting the World Health Organization and working to end the pandemic in the face of right-wing attacks.

Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the WHO during the worst pandemic of our lifetimes.

He sent a signal to the global community that America couldn’t be counted on to lead during an international crisis!

We’re grateful that President Biden rejoined the World Health Organization and has announced a commitment to share vaccine technology with the WHO to benefit the rest of the world.

But the Biden Administration needs to take even bolder action to support the WHO, save lives across the world, and make America a leader against future pandemics.

President Biden needs to see that Fox News and the right-wing propaganda machine are failing to sway public opinion. Tell the Biden Administration:

Thank you for rejoining the World Health Organization, sharing vaccine technology, and preparing for the next pandemic. Now we must prioritize funding the global COVID-19 response and removing trade rules that impede global vaccine production.

Thanks for fighting back against right-wing disinformation,
