Hey everybody. I wanted to give you a quick update on the emergency redistricting process that just took place. You may have heard some news that our campaign is now under threat, and I wanted you to hear directly from me what’s going on.
When we ran in 2020, we tripled voter turnout district-wide — but the highest increase came from the communities of NY-16 that were overlooked, unheard and disengaged. Right now, those communities have a voice, political power, and are a central part of governance.
Unfortunately, the new maps created by the special master divide the most populated, Black, brown, and working-class parts of NY-16 into three different districts, effectively diluting their gained power.
The whole point of redistricting is to create congressional districts that keep communities of interest together. But these unjust maps will almost certainly drive down voter turnout and penalize progressives all throughout New York.
If we don’t raise a lot of money very urgently to help combat voter disenfranchisement, we could lose our seat in Congress to a conservative, establishment candidate who does not share our values. So, I’m asking you personally if you can make your best contribution to our campaign here:

The Democratic Party should not tolerate or condone those who cynically try to dismantle and tear down Black power in Congress. It’s especially disturbing coming from the leader of the DCCC — a man who should be looking to hold as many Democratic seats in the House as possible, not primarying his colleagues opportunistically to move into a slightly safer blue seat.
Our beautifully diverse coalition is building something special — and I’m excited to be running for re-election in my home, NY-16. But for our campaign, this is truly a do-or-die moment, and we need to raise as much as we can to be prepared for the fights ahead.
Again, if you can donate, the link is right here and it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for always having my back.
