AG LETITIA JAMES RELEASED BODY CAM VIDEOS OF CORRECTS OFFICERS ....
Earlier this month, an investigation was launched into the death of an inmate at Marcy Correctional Facility in Oneida County. On Friday afternoon, New York State Attorney General Letitia James released body-worn camera footage of the incident.
Across New York State, hundreds gathered to express grief and outrage after seeing corrections officers and other prison staff at Marcy Correctional Facility viciously beat Robert Brooks the day before he died. The message was that there needs to be widespread change; because what happened to Brooks was far from an isolated incident.
"For every act of violence caught on camera, countless more in prisons are ignored, 'justified', even covered up. Our prisons are not places of safety, they are places of unchecked violence," Thomas Gant said.

The investigation into the beating and death of Robert Brooks continues, with the FBI now examining the case to determine if federal charges are warranted. Meanwhile, Brooks was laid to rest in Rochester this past weekend, leaving many in the community, including local faith leaders, calling for accountability for the 13 correction officers and the nurse involved.
