Donald Trump Threatens to Sue ABC for Saying the Qatari Jet is a Gift to Trump

President Donald Trump is once again clashing with the media — this time, targeting ABC News over its coverage of a $400 million Boeing 747-8 jet reportedly gifted by Qatar. The president has threatened legal action, claiming the network knowingly spread false information by suggesting the aircraft was given to him personally.

Well, here’s the deal: the Qatar jet is a gift for Donald Trump. If it wasn’t one, then it wouldn’t be going to Trump’s personal library when he leaves office. Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump called out ABC’s leadership and former anchor George Stephanopoulos: “Why doesn’t Chairman Bob Iger do something about ABC Fake News, especially since I just won $16,000,000 based on the Fake and Defamatory reporting of Liddle’ George Slopadopolus,” he wrote.

Trump maintains that the jet is not a personal gift, but is being donated to the U.S. Air Force or Department of Defense — a distinction he says ABC is deliberately ignoring. “Everyone, including their lawyers, has been told that ABC must not say that Qatar is giving ME a FREE Boeing 747 Airplane, because they are not,” Trump wrote. “This highly respected country is donating the plane to the United States Air Force/ Defense Department, AND NOT TO ME.”

Critics, however, have raised questions about transparency and the costs associated with upgrading the aircraft — which could run as high as $1 billion if converted for presidential use. ABC News and other outlets have pointed to logistical challenges, ethics concerns, and the message such a gift sends in terms of international influence.

Still, Trump has defended the arrangement, calling it a smart move for the country.
“Only a stupid person would decline an upgrade like this,” he said, arguing that Qatar’s investment in the U.S. — reportedly over $1.4 trillion — reflects strong diplomatic ties and economic goodwill.

As tensions rise between the president and mainstream media, the stakes continue to grow — not just over a single news story, but over the broader battle for public trust in American journalism and the presidency.

It’s Sunday. I have a few important observations I want to share today. Let’s grab a coffee—or whatever drink you prefer—and chat.

First, I think you can mark this week as the official moment in history when corporate news died.

It’s officially over.

Yes, they’ve been circling the drain for some time now. Since the November election, they’ve exposed themselves clearly as being agents of the Trump regime with their total capitulation and gleeful subservience. But this week in particular, their coordinated attacks on former President Biden to distract from Donald Trump’s collapsing presidency really sealed the deal.

I think people were beyond fed up with the corporate news before this week, but some were willing to check back every now and then, hoping for corporate news to grow some modicum of something resembling a spine.

However, this week, corporate news revealed full complicity with the fascist Trump agenda by focusing on attacks on the former President instead of Trump’s criminality.

Relatedly, my second observation is that Trump had the worst week in the history of any presidency. Think about it. The week started with Trump caving to China and reducing 145% tariffs to 30%, with China giving no concessions. China hosted meetings with Latin American and Caribbean countries where President Xi mocked Trump as a reckless bully without even having to utter Trump’s name. The week concluded with the credit agency Moody’s reducing the United States credit score for the first time in the history of Moody’s. Trump lost a major Supreme Court case involving his powers under the Alien Enemies Act. Trump and Putin were too afraid to show up in Istanbul, Turkey, where Ukrainian President Zelenskyy showed up to talk peace. Trump was bragging about Qatar gifting him a $400 million jet. Trump’s budget blew up in the GOP-controlled House Budget Committee. Could it get any worse than this? This is why corporate news was in desperate cover-up mode for him.

Third, there was a massive shift in the coverage of the week’s events which cemented independent media as the main source of news for people now. Whether it was MeidasTouch Network being recognized as the Podcast of the Year at The Webby Awards or MeidasTouch having multiple shows top the new podcast charts by YouTube, the lack of relevancy of corporate news was on full display (remember to add the MeidasTouch Podcast on Apple Podcasts and Spotify).

Good riddance to corporate news! As they try to push dangerous and tired manufactured narratives, the people get what’s going on. There has been a wholesale rejection of their terrible coverage.

This all coincides with a major milestone for me. I turn 40 tomorrow. This has been a challenging year for sure. But with you by my side, it has been rewarding. The MeidasMighty is like family to me, and I am so grateful to you.

Corporate news thinks we are all stupid and they are giving us the middle finger. They don’t realize that their Trump propaganda is now REJECTED by “we the people,” and we see right through the bait and switch. We knew they are Trump hustlers and grifters.

And I’m not just talking about Fox News, who wants Meidas shut down. I’m talking about all the usual media suspects who have aggressively been reporting on Joe Biden’s mental acuity now that we are in late May 2025.

These media gremlins are so in the tank for Trump, they’re prioritizing idiotic Biden hit pieces over actually focusing on Donald Trump causing Moody’s to downgrade our debt for the first time ever since Moody’s came into existence in 1917.

Donald Trump is a disgusting piece of trash. He is a felon, a sexual abuser, a fraud. He hates America. If we’re talking about “mental acuity,” on any given day Donald Trump does 20 things that are more alarming than anything Biden has done his entire term.

Biden ran a stable, normal government with predictable decision-making and clear values and principles.

Donald Trump is taking bribes in the form of gold-plated 747 jets from Middle East nations that fund Hamas, and he’s praising regimes that funded Al Qaeda and contributed to 9/11. And he’s bragging about it—all while inflicting pain on the American people who can’t afford homes or groceries.

And what the heck is the media doing!? Joe Biden?!! There is a damn hostile takeover of our federal government underway, and Trump wants to get rid of elections in 2026 if he has his way—and the media wants to vomit their legacy organ slop on us.

We are PISSED! We are not taking it anymore. I’ve come back from my New York trip with renewed energy—not just to expose Trump but to continue to crush this corporate media nonsense into the ground. Sure, I’m glad we won all these awards and top chart recognitions in glitzy NY red carpets and events. But that’s not what we are about here. We are about saving democracy and rebuilding media. I don’t just want to beat these legacy media hucksters by hundreds of millions of views as we do now—I want to knock them out of any relevance as they peddle this crap!!

This “gift” isn’t cleared for landing

The Trump administration’s plan to accept a $400 million luxury jet from Qatar — one of the most expensive “gifts” to the U.S. for use by a president — raises glaring ethical (and legal) concerns for us. The administration says the jet will be put into service as Air Force One. But there is no such thing as a free lunch, and we do not know if Qatar’s generous “gift” is predicated on receiving something in return. You should not have to question whether the president is acting in your best interest or Qatar’s. The acceptance of the gift was reportedly cleared by the Office of Legal Counsel, but an unprecedented ethical matter like this cannot just fly beneath the radar. We are demanding that the administration make its legal justification public right away so you can be sure the president isn’t in Qatar’s pocket.

Accepting the “gift” without congressional approval could be illegal. Members from both sides of the aisle are expressing criticism, and they must band together to nip this brewing conflict of interest in the bud.

It’s not really even free — reoutfitting the jet to meet Air Force One standards could cost taxpayers $1 billion.

There are numerous national security concerns of allowing a president to fly in a jet supplied by a foreign government.

President Trump said he would be “stupid” not to accept the free gift. Here are some gifts offered to past presidents and how those gifts were ethically handled.

Russell Vought will reportedly carry the torch on DOGE cuts after Elon Musk steps back from his (deliberately) ambiguous role at the entity. Vought may not have the name recognition of Musk, but you know his work — Vought was a key architect of Project 2025 and Schedule F, which is the precursor to the Schedule Policy/Career policy that threatens to politicize the federal workforce. And under his leadership, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) took down a crucial federal spending database that we’re still fighting to get back online. Having influence in both OMB and DOGE would put a lot of power in Vought’s hands — largely unchecked power at that. We’re deeply concerned about what this could mean for civil servants and the government’s ability to serve you and your communities.

Vought has supported invoking the Insurrection Act and overruling Congress’s power to the purse. POGO has opposed his involvement in the administration from the very start.

ABUSING POWER AND RIGHTS

Habeas corpus cannot be taken from you

The Trump administration is “actively looking at” the outrageous possibility of suspending the writ of habeas corpus, the right to challenge illegal government detention in court. Habeas corpus is centuries older than the U.S. Constitution, with its origins in the Magna Carta (hence the Latin). It is closely related to the right of due process, and suspension of the writ would make it impossible for courts to enforce their numerous orders commanding the Trump administration to stop violating people’s rights — or for courts to protect anyone against illegal imprisonment. Any threat to habeas corpus endangers all of us. Fortunately, the president does not have the authority to suspend habeas at all, and there are legal limits on when Congress may do so.
