Delta is the last remaining major airline that has not unionized

Yesterday, the Biden administration announced that after years of negotiations, American Airlines flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement that provides workers with the wages and dignity they deserve, and that averts a strike, which would have been devastating to airline passengers and our economy. Next up? Delta!

Delta Airlines is the only major American airline with mostly non-union employees. But that could be about to change.

Delta’s baggage handlers, also known as ramp agents, could be on the cusp of forming a union for the first time. But they’re up against Delta’s union busting that includes anti-union videos and leaflets in break rooms, meetings with new hires that discourage unionization, managers telling workers to remove their union pins, and taking union fliers from workers’ personal belongings. Delta even has an anti-union website with false and misleading information.

We spoke with Delta baggage handlers to learn more about their unionization campaign. Check out our brand new report, then send a message to Delta CEO Ed Bastian demanding Delta stop its union busting and allow its workers to unionize for fair pay, worker protections, and benefits.

WATCH, SIGN & SEND

Flex McGhee is a ramp agent who has been working at Delta for 24 years. He told us:

Right here at the World lot, it says ‘America's most awarded employees park here.’ I don't feel that. I don't know what that even means. We're not the best compensated. We don't make the most, we don't have the best vacation, sick time. All our leave -- that stuff’s terrible.

Pat Gores, another Delta ramp agent, told More Perfect Union:

Our safety policies are very clearly written by people in cubicles who do not spend time around running engines and dangerous things where people die every year around this.

Without a union, Delta employees have faced declining conditions, including a time off and sick leave policy that wears them down.

Workers currently get only 7 personal days per year. If they get sick or injured for longer than that, workers have to either use vacation days or go on short-term disability, during which 40% of their normal salary is withheld.

Stand with Delta baggage handlers by sending a message to the Delta CEO today. Demand the airline stop its blatant union busting and allow workers to unionize.

Together, we’re fighting for the rights and wages of workers everywhere.

In solidarity,
