The new SF DA already fired 15 PEOPLE

Real Justice

Fifteen of San Francisco's brightest attorneys were fired by the HORRIBLE new DA Brooke Jenkins — the leader of the recall campaign who was just appointed by Mayor London Breed.

Right away Brooke began firing ANYBODY in the office who was there to hold police accountable, free innocent people, or even hold the Mayor’s own family accountable. ⁣

Brooke literally fired the staff that prosecuted the Mayor’s brother for killing someone. ⁣

I’m furious because these aren’t Republicans but sellout Democrats that are making decisions that will set back meaningful reforms in San Francisco for generations.

This is NOT about safety. Not at all.

This is what happens when we can't protect our progressive DAs — and conservative mega-donors are already targeting our leaders like Larry Krasner in Philadelphia and George Gascón in Los Angeles.

We need to act IMMEDIATELY and put up the defenses before they even have a chance to set up the kind of campaign they did in San Francisco. Please, I’m begging you, make a donation right now to our DA Defense Fund so we can protect our pro-choice and pro-justice DAs.

I want you to see some of the names and work that DA Brooke Jenkins SACKED. These were staff members and attorneys, dedicated folks helping the people of San Francisco:

  • Kate Chatfield, Chief of Staff
  • Rachel Marshall, Communications Director
  • Arcella Hurtado, Head of the Post-conviction Review Unit who also worked on the Innocence Commission. She was also the highest ranking Latina and LGBTQ+ member of the office
  • Lateef Grey and Rebecca Young from the Independent Investigations Bureau who held police and other public officials accountable
  • Kasie Lee, the first Cantonese-speaking assistant DA and head of Victim Services
  • Dana Dru and Stephanie Lacambra, who were in the Post-conviction Unit and helped release 70 people who were in prison for decades and showed growth and rehabilitation
  • Seth Meisels, who oversaw the investigation into fencing operations responsible for many car break-ins and fought to protect the rights of women seeking abortions and their doctors
  • Tal Klement, the Assistant Chief of General Crimes who fought for the rights of victims and the disabled. He and Seth sounded the alarm when they found out that SFPD illegally used the DNA of rape victims
  • Renowned data scientists including Mikaela Rabinowitz, who was the Director of Data, Analytics and Research and Dylan Yep, who was working to fight racial disparities in the system
  • Ryan Khotjasteh, who fought to preserve juvenile justice reforms so that kids aren’t charged as adults

Let me be clear: There were UNJUST terminations.

It’s disgusting and one of the single most shameful things I’ve seen in my life as a leader.

When London Breed appointed Brooke Jenkins to be the new DA, they didn’t have to do all of this.

They are DESTROYING all reform and firing GOOD people for no reason.

Conservative billionaires and the police union made this possible by spending MILLIONS to get Chesa’s recall on the ballot and spread lies to voters all across San Francisco.

We need to make sure this never happens again and the only way to do that is by working NOW to protect our DAs and the incredible folks they bring into their office to work towards reform.

Chip in to our DA Defense fund now to make sure we have the resources to fight back and defend our DAs.

Love and appreciate you,

Shaun

BREAKING: Recall effort allegedly reaches signature threshold to qualify for ballot

We're alerting Democrats about progressive Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gasćon who is currently facing a Republican recall effort. To learn more about George, visit our website here. To help George defeat the Republican recall effort, chip in here.

Friend, the recall effort is getting real.

Yesterday, the GOP-funded effort to subvert the democratic process and stop the criminal justice reform movement in its tracks claimed they have the 567,000 signatures needed to qualify for the November ballot.

This is a significant development, and given what happened in San Francisco last week, with D.A. Chesa Boudin getting ousted after having been outspent 3 to 1, we need to take this threat very seriously.

I am sick and tired of Republican mega-donors thinking they can circumvent the democratic process to stop our movement just because they cannot win elections on their own.

We need a show of strength. So today, I’m asking you to contribute $20 or more to my campaign to help me continue fighting for an L.A. that is safe and just.

I want to make clear that we don’t know for sure that the recall effort has enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot (it’s very typical for many signatures to be invalidated) -- but we are treating this threat with the seriousness it deserves.

The recall effort has said they would reverse the policies you and I care about -- policies like ending the death penalty, holding cops accountable, ending cash bail, and preventing innocent people from languishing behind bars.

The right-wing “lock-em-up” approach to criminal justice does not make our communities safer. On the contrary, we know that this approach only serves to further entrench the cycle of crime and violence.

If the recall qualifies for the ballot, they’ll spend millions to spread misinformation about our movement, and use fear to scare citizens into reversing our progress.

We can’t let that happen.

Please support our movement today if you can, and help me continue in the fight to reform our criminal justice system.

Thanks for reading,

George Gascón
District Attorney, Los Angeles County

P.S. If you can't donate, please consider adding your name today to reject the recall and make clear that you're against the right wing plot to take over our city.
