Who is William Oberndorf, the GOP billionaire backing the Chesa Boudin recall campaign in San Francisco? For anyone following the Chesa Boudin recall election in San Francisco, one name is almost inescapable: billionaire William Oberndorf. Over the past two years, Oberndorf has been the biggest donor to the Neighbors for a Better San Francisco super PAC, which has spent just over $1.8 million on pushing the Boudin recall, of which over $900,000 came from Oberndorf. Donate now to help Chesa fight back against Oberndorf and other GOP donors like him who want to send our city backward. Oberndorf in 2019 offered to support Chesa’s campaign back in 2019 with one big catch -- Chesa would’ve had to oppose San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy. Chesa refused. Over the past two years, Oberndorf has been the biggest donor to the Neighbors for a Better San Francisco super PAC, which has spent just over $1.8 million on pushing the Boudin recall, of which over $900,000 came from Oberndorf. But it's not just the recall -- Oberndorf has been involved with GOP political movements for years:  In 2020, he donated millions of dollars to Congressional Republicans and Mitch McConnell's PAC for GOP Senate candidates.  In 2012, he spent lavishly to fight teacher's unions. In 2016, he spent $100,000 fighting a universal Pre-K program that would've been funded by people who make over $400,000 a year.  He gave the maximum individual contribution to A.G. candidate Anne Marie Schubert who is running as a "tough-on-crime" prosecutor and has been critical of our efforts to reform the system.  Put simply, William Oberndorf will spend whatever it takes to turn San Francisco into a Republican dystopia. And we won’t stand for it. Please, donate whatever you can afford to help Chesa stop him and keep on delivering for the people of San Francisco and our criminal justice reform movement. And then she admitted that she was funding the the recall of Chesa Boudin because she wasn’t 'getting anything in return.'
