Let me share a bit more about these fantastic, history-making candidates:

Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) is a life-long educator in the Bronx. He has seen how our country is rigged for the wealthy and privileged few. Jamaal is an unwavering champion for working people and racial justice. He will be a strong voice for progressive change in the House.

Cori Bush (MO-01) is a nurse, a single mother, an ordained pastor, and a community activist. She knows the struggles of her community firsthand. Cori fought for justice on the streets of Ferguson as an organizer.

Beth Doglio (WA-10) has been a steadfast leader on the environment, gun safety, and issues facing working families in the Washington state legislature. In Congress, she will be integral to our fight to stand up for working people, pass a Green New Deal, and deliver justice for all.

Mondaire Jones (NY-17) is a staunch advocate for Medicare for All, quality education, and criminal justice reform. He is fighting to strengthen our democracy and put power in the hands of the people. If elected, he will make history as the first openly gay, Black member of Congress.

Marie Newman (IL-03) is a strong advocate for working people and knows that a green economy is key to creating millions of new jobs while saving our planet. She is committed to the fight for health and reproductive justice and will work to build a more just future for every family.

The future of the Democratic Party will be decided in this election. That’s why it’s important that we back unabashedly progressive candidates who will fight for transformative ideas like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.

We have some incredible news. Marie Newman won her critical primary against Dan Lipinski in Illinois 3rd District!

We can’t overstate the importance of this win. Dan Lipinski was a Democrat who stood against choice and access to health care. Thanks to Marie’s grassroots movement, AOC is one step closer to having a powerful new ally in the fight for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal in Congress.

When we started Courage to Change, we knew that the fight to elect working-class candidates would be difficult. Not everyone would win, and seeing courageous community leaders lose is hard. It hurts.

But we can’t dwell on the past. People across the country are hurting under a system that puts profits above people. We owe it to them to give it our absolute best to build a democracy that works for everyone.

So we’re jumping right back into the fight: Marie Newman (IL-03) is running against anti-choice Democrat Dan Lipinski. Last cycle, she lost by less than two points. That’s not happening this time.
