ILLEGAL DEFORESTATION IS DOOMING CREATURES LIKE ELEPHANTS AND ORANGUTANS. Imagine seeing your habitat toppled and the ground leveled as alien machines slash, burn, and churn the landscape around you. All so that a business executive on the other side of the world can stuff their pockets with cash. Money-hungry corporations like Cargill, Procter & Gamble, and Bunge profit from their suppliers’ horrific and often illegal tactics. While animals flee the devastation descending on their habitats, executives sit in high-rise offices, shielded from witnessing the horrors their companies inflict. You can fight back: Stand up to protect forests and their animal inhabitants from profit-driven destruction. At the same time, greedy corporations are committing crimes against Indigenous peoples -- stealing their homes and livelihoods to extract cheap materials. This practice is morally abhorrent and illegal in many countries. It’s also accelerating the climate crisis. Land stewarded by Indigenous peoples sequesters and stores billions of tons of carbon. But as companies cut down vegetation, that carbon goes straight into the atmosphere, worsening what is already a CODE RED climate crisis. Corporations will squeeze every last dollar out of forests by abusing Indigenous communities, displacing animals, and burning our planet. But a bill in Congress could strike a mighty blow to deforestation. The Forest Act will ban companies from importing ingredients linked to illegal forest destruction. We need YOUR help to push it over the finish line. Will you fight illegal deforestation and call on your representatives to support the Forest Act? Friends of the Earth |
