This is so, so big for our campaign.
The Chicago Tribune, the largest newspaper in Chicago, endorsed me in the Democratic primary for Illinois’ 7th Congressional District over a 25-year incumbent. The Tribune cited my leadership on gun violence prevention in Chicago and said it was time for a new generation of leadership in IL-7.
This is a major sign that we can win this race. We have the momentum. Now we need a rush of donations right now to overcome the massive corporate spending against our campaign.
It is time to take on corporate power in Washington and truly fight to deliver for the working families of Illinois’ 7th Congressional District. That’s why I decided to run for Congress and that’s why I’ve worked so hard on this campaign to win against the big corporate money against me.
On an average weekday, 500,000 people see the Chicago Tribune. It’s very likely that we’ve picked up new voters after this endorsement and some people who are even first learning about our campaign. It’s critical that we reach as many voters as we can right now with this momentum.
Like the Tribune said, it’s time for a new generation of leaders in Congress. I’m ready to be part of that new generation and to fight for the people, if our grassroots supporters can step up and help us finish this campaign strong.
Thank you so much for your support.
In solidarity,
Kina Collins
