We're suing the TN GOP for rigging our maps

 

We will always fight for democracy and fair representation in Tennessee. That’s why we are suing the Tennessee Republican Party. They rigged our maps, and we’re going to make them pay the price. Under the illegal maps they drew, 1 in 4 Tennesseans will be discriminated against and underrepresented. “Equality of population is still the principal consideration.” – Supreme Court of Tennessee, Lockert v. Crowell, 1982 This principle is what should be at the center of drawing district lines. The Republicans’ maps fail to do this, while the maps Democrats proposed were mathematically and proportionally superior in every way. It is possible to draw fair maps, but Tennessee Republicans chose themselves over equality. Our lawsuit has already produced results: the State Supreme Court ruled to send both the State House and State Senate maps to trial. We have already seen some wins, but you can bet Republicans will draw the trial out as long as possible, and lawsuits are expensive — Will you stand with us in our fight to keep Tennessee communities whole?
