Every year, 17 billion pounds of plastic trash enters the marine environment with devastating results for birds, including shorebirds and seabirds, which often die after ingesting or becoming entangled in plastic waste. A new bill introduced in Congress would address the plastic pollution crisis by putting the onus on manufacturers to take care of the plastic refuse they produce. To protect seabirds and other wildlife, it’s urgent that we tell Congress to pass the Break Free from Plastic Pollution Act now.
