I’m not backing down

For so many of us, the news out of the Supreme Court this week has been incredibly difficult. If Justice Alito’s draft is indeed the majority opinion, the consequences of this ruling would be swift and disastrous, putting the health and safety of millions at risk.

Abortion could be severely restricted or outright banned in 26 states almost immediately — including right here in Wisconsin, where an abortion-ban law from 1849 is still on the books.

But make no mistake: I won't stand by and let Republicans strip us of our rights and take us back to 1849.

Last summer, I introduced my Women's Health Protection Act to finally protect the right to a safe and legal abortion by federal law. I've been fighting my heart out to pass this crucial legislation in the Senate ever since because every woman, regardless of where she lives, deserves the freedom to make her own, personal decisions about her health care, her family and her body.

This legislation will go to the Senate floor next week, and I’m calling on all of my colleagues to step up and vote to finally codify Roe into federal law — but I’m sure Republicans and their filibuster will put up a heck of a fight. Well, I’m not backing down, and I’m asking you to stand with me:

There has never been a more important moment to raise our voices and fight back. Add your name to my petition to join me in putting pressure on my Senate colleagues to eliminate the filibuster and pass my Women’s Health Protection Act immediately.

ADD YOUR NAME

Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans have abused the filibuster to override what the majority of the American people want for too long. We must speak up and fight back.

Thanks for your support on this.

More soon,

Tammy
