June 2022: We don’t need more offshore drilling - here’s how we can end it
ACTION SPOTLIGHT
Tell the Biden Administration: No More Offshore Drilling
Every catastrophic oil spill begins with a lease sale…
President Biden’s Interior Department will soon release its five-year plan for offshore oil drilling. The Department could choose to auction off large stretches of our coastlines in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska — putting coastal communities, Indigenous People, marine wildlife, and fishermen at grave risk of oil spills. More drilling will also make us even more dependent on dirty fossil fuels, driving more carbon pollution that worsens climate change.
The fossil fuel industry will be pushing hard for new leases in the plan — so we need your help to mobilize the largest possible public outcry that the Biden administration will be unable to ignore.
Tell the Biden White House and Interior Department NOT to include any new lease sales in their forthcoming five-year offshore drilling plan — and to instead double down on the bold clean energy action we need to avert climate catastrophe!

WATCH: Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the absolutely critical Supreme Court case you need to know about — and what it means for the planet
If the Supreme Court's conservative supermajority rules for the dirty coal companies in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency, it could eviscerate the Clean Air Act and gut the EPA’s ability to stop power plants and other corporate polluters from emitting deadly, climate-wrecking pollution into our air.
We teamed up with NRDC Trustee Julia Louis-Dreyfus and NowThis on a powerful new video explaining the high stakes of this case and what it means for our fight against climate change.
A decision on the case is expected any day now. And no matter how the Supreme Court rules, NRDC will fight back with every tool at our disposal, in and out of court, thanks to the support of people like you.
Watch Julia’s video on Facebook and Instagram — and please share with friends.

Michigan Makes Key Clean Energy Progress: Consumers Energy, one of Michigan's largest public utilities, has agreed to retire all units of its J.H. Campbell Coal Plant by 2025, which will help reduce air pollution, tackle the climate crisis, and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Read more >
ACTION ROUNDUP
Tell the EPA: Clean Up Power Plant Pollution And Fight the Climate Crisis: EPA is considering new standards that would rein in dangerous pollution from power plants, especially power plants that send pollution into neighboring states. Tell the agency we need the strongest possible standards to secure clean air for all. Submit a public comment before the June 6 deadline >
Tell Columbia Sportswear: Stop Using Toxic PFAS Chemicals in Your Products: PFAS chemicals are widely used in the apparel industry but are also linked to serious health problems like cancer and thyroid disease. And when clothes with PFAS are made, washed, or disposed of, the chemicals seep into our waterways and can build up in our bodies. Tell the company’s CEO to end its use of PFAS! Send your message now >
Tell the Biden Administration: Cancel Nationwide Permit 12 and Close Dangerous Pipeline Loopholes: NWP12 is a notoriously problematic license under the Clean Water Act used to fast-track pipelines without proper environmental review, threatening communities, drinking water, and wetlands. Tell the Army Corps of Engineers to cancel this permit. Submit your public comment now >
