At this very moment, my constituents in California are voting. And I’m on the ballot for re-election in California’s 30th Congressional District.
I want to take a moment to explain why I’m running, why the stakes are so high, and why your vote matters.
Listen, the last six years haven’t been easy. For anyone. And sometimes it can feel like pushing a boulder up a mountain to get anything accomplished.
And today, my constituents are facing more pressures than ever before. Rising costs on everything from milk to gas, wages that are failing to keep up with prices, struggles to pay off student loans or back rent, health care worries and fears for the planet, and so much more.
It doesn’t have to be this way. And we can change things for the better. This is what motivates me.
Yes, you might know me best as the Congressman who held Trump and his GOP cronies accountable — every single day of his presidency — and who continues to fight to protect our democracy.
And our democracy remains in jeopardy. But there is still more at risk right now.
In just a matter of weeks, the Supreme Court is poised to strike down the right to reproductive care and access to abortion. I’ll fight for all women and individuals to make those decisions, not conservative state legislators or judges.
Over the course of the last three weeks, we’ve seen over twenty mass shootings, including one in Texas taking nineteen kids’ lives. I’ll fight to pass gun safety laws, and protect kids and families. And I’ll fight the gun industry and NRA.
And with gas prices on the rise, workers and families are struggling to just get by. That’s why I’ve authored legislation to make Big Oil pay and lower gas prices.
There are so many more reasons why I’m running, but it boils down to this — I’m not done fighting.
Fighting for our democracy. For universal health care. For our planet and a Green New Deal. For our families. People struggling to just get by. For you.
It may be tough right now, but I am not about to give up. You have my word.
I’m up against eight opponents in California’s jungle primary today, including a Republican endorsed by Trump acolytes Roger Stone and Michael Flynn. And I can’t prevail without you and your support.
Thanks for reading, and for always standing by my side. It means more to me and my family than I can say. Stay safe, Adam |
