As the campaign to recall District Attorney Chesa Boudin heads to a vote tomorrow [TODAY], campaign finance data shows that groups created to oust him out-raised anti-recall groups by more than 2 to 1, primarily thanks to high-spending individual donors and corporate entities.
Here are some of the biggest contributors to the pro-recall campaign:
William Oberndorf: A Republican billionaire who is a major donor to Mitch McConnell's SuperPAC.
Jean-Pierre Conte: chairman of private equity firm Genstar Capital.
Miriam “Mimi” Haas: the billionaire widow of former Levi Strauss CEO Peter Haas.
David Sacks: a former PayPal executive and Tucker Carlson fan-boy.
Put simply, these recall funders make up a "who's who" of San Francisco real-estate, 'tech bros', and Republican mega-donors.
Unfortunately, Chesa doesn't have a long list of billionaire benefactors he can call to write a check and fund this campaign. We only have you, a team of grassroots supporters who are committed to the criminal justice reform movement.
Here's the good news: We still have time to close some of the gap.
You may be wondering if your donation can still be helpful at this late stage in the campaign.
The answer is YES! We need an injection of cash TONIGHT weekend to power our field program and make sure we have the resources to turn out as many voters as possible.
Chesa Boudin was elected District Attorney of San Francisco in 2019 to reform our criminal justice system. Now, right-wingers want to reverse our progress and return our city to a time when innocent people were locked away and police acted with impunity.
Please chip in today to keep up the fight to reform San Francisco's criminal justice system.
