Let’s be clear, the oil and gas industry are making record profits because of the war in Ukraine while Americans are making the sacrifice, paying upwards of $6 a gallon at the pump. That’s not fair.
Moving past the high inflation at the gas pump starts by placing the blame where it belongs: on the oil and gas companies profiting off these higher prices.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine didn’t cause increased gas prices. They were already rising amidst the energy crisis, before the war began. Yet we see oil and gas companies making their highest profits to date by exploiting the situation in Ukraine.
Big Oil executives are racking in record profits while Americans are being fleeced at the pump. It’s not right. That’s why I’ve proposed taxing Big Oil’s windfall profits and giving that money back to working families who are struggling to make ends meet right now.
