Often when I send you an email about a certain bill we’ve passed in the House, the email has to end like this: This bill has passed here in the House, but it’s stalled in the Senate because Democrats don’t have enough votes.
Whether it’s protecting access to abortion, legislation to stop Big Oil from price gouging, protecting the right to vote, or lowering the cost of child care—these bills won’t become law without more Democrats in the Senate.
That’s why today we’re announcing our newest slate of Truth to Power candidates who will help us grow our Senate majority.
I’m proud to endorse Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin, John Fetterman in Pennsylvania, Charles Booker in Kentucky, and Mike Franken in Iowa.
All four are running campaigns free of corporate PAC money, which means they rely on people stepping up and chipping in. If you can, make a donation that will be split between Truth to Power and our campaigns.
Mandela Barnes is the current Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin. Mandela has what it takes to win this tough race against Republican incumbent Ron Johnson. As a community organizer, state legislator, and now as the Lt. Governor, he’s proven he’ll stand up to special interests and fight for an economy that works for working people—not just big corporations.
John Fetterman is Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and a former mayor who has proven he can deliver for working people. John is running against Republican Dr. Oz, and winning in Pennsylvania is key to Democrats’ control of the Senate.
Charles Booker is an author, former State Representative, and lifelong resident of Louisville, Kentucky. Growing up in one of the poorest zip codes in Kentucky, Charles experienced poverty and homelessness firsthand, and shares many of the same struggles that Kentuckians across the Commonwealth face everyday.
Admiral Mike Franken is running for Senate in Iowa—the state I grew up in. He’s served our country in the Navy and at the Pentagon, and now he’s running a people-powered campaign to flip this seat blue.
All four of these candidates are joining me in the pledge to reject corporate PAC money. With Roe v. Wade now overturned, it’s more important than ever that we grow our majority in the Senate.
Thanks for considering supporting these four candidates. They’re all running in really tough races, and your contribution will make a real and immediate difference.
Katie Porter
Katie Porter started Truth to Power to elect candidates who will stand up to the corporate special interests, lobbyists, and corrupt politicians who have dominated our government for far too long. Truth to Power only endorses candidates who Katie believes in, and who share her progressive values. Chip in today to help support Truth to Power’s mission of electing bold truth tellers to join Katie Porter in Congress. |
