No matter how "expected" the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade might've been today, it does not erase the hurt or impact that this will have on the lives, futures, and bodily autonomy of so many of us. We're not sending this message to overlook any of that. But instead, we're writing to make it clear that the ACLU is here fighting alongside you – and we will continue to be here every single moment ahead to defend abortion access until it is safe and secure for everyone in this country. They won't stop here. Neither will we. Stay in the fight for as long as it takes. GIVE MONTHLY Friends – Today, the Supreme Court issued a shameful ruling explicitly overturning Roe v. Wade – turning its back on 50 years of precedent. The consequences of this indefensible decision will be swift and devastating. Half the states are expected to ban abortion, denying 36 million women and other people who can become pregnant in those states the right to decide for themselves whether and when to become a parent. The harm of this ruling will fall hardest on people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, young people, and people struggling to make ends meet. Emboldened by this decision, anti-abortion extremists and their political allies won't stop here. Opponents of freedom are planning for a nationwide ban on abortion. And they're also attacking our right to use birth control, access gender-affirming care, marry who we love, and vote. But the ACLU has been preparing for this moment. We're committed to using the full force of our organization to fight these assaults in the courts, in statehouses, in the streets, and at the ballot box. And we're ready to work as hard as it takes – for as long as it takes – to protect all our civil liberties.
