TRAFFICKED ELEPHANT RELEASED TO WILDLIFE SOS
Earlier today a judge released Rosie into the anxious hands of our team. After decades of abuse, she is on her way to the Elephant Hospital Campus where we hope to heal her many physical and emotional traumas.
Late last month Rosie was seized by the Forest Department after her traffickers were identified by a Wildlife SOS anti-poaching unit. When our medical team arrived to help, Rosie’s illegal “owner” used the courts to stall our rescue attempt. Our legal team has been fighting ever since, and today we temporarily won her freedom. We are thrilled to announce that Rosie will soon be safely home with our elephant care experts where she will get the kindness and treatment she desperately needs.
Rosie’s rescue has been perilous and challenging. A violent mob was stirred-up prior to her being loaded on the truck. The large and angry group tried to disrupt our operation and agitate Rosie. They threw rocks at our team and attempted to tip over the ambulance. Thankfully the local police came to help. They pushed back the mob and gave us a police escort out of the area. We are very thankful for the hard work and cooperation of local officials.
However Rosie’s newfound freedom remains in jeopardy because her abusive “owner” will likely appeal the judge’s order. Now that she is in our care, we can’t let her go and we need your help to keep her safe!
Will you please help with the costly rescue, care and legal defense of Rosie?
Thank you for standing by Rosie during this challenging operation!
P.S. We are expecting her to arrive at our center tonight! Be on the lookout for an email announcing her first steps of freedom!
