Trump's Lady of Perpetual Concern, Sen. Susan Collins, had a rough time defending her record in a televised debate last night, including somehow setting up and immediately falling into her *own* gotcha trap. Collins bragged about successfully lobbying Trump to "lift the tariffs from road salt," to which Democratic challenger Troy Jackson immediately replied, "What about everything else? We can't eat road salt!"
Collins also made sure voters saw how truly out of touch she is by protesting Jackson's assertion that she'd had health insurance her entire life. Collins feebly reminded Mainers that she didn't...for one year, when she ran for governor in 1994. 1994! Oh, yeah, didn't Susan Collins promise to only serve two Senate terms back in 1996?
The best part about all this? There are THREE more debates between Jackson and Collins in the next three weeks. All of a sudden, Jackson's insistence on pushing the debates to right before the election makes a lot more sense.
Trump blows a gasket when asked why he's encouraging people to vote by mail
Speaking with reporters outside the White House yesterday, Donald Trump was asked why he was encouraging his supporters to vote by mail if he thinks that particular method is besieged by fraud and cannot be trusted. Having found himself quickly boxed into a corner of his own making, he jabbed a stubby finger in the direction of the offending reporter and barked "FAKE NEWS!"
Eleven years into our long national nightmare, it is still impressive how quickly and easily it is to get under this vainglorious man's incredibly thin skin.

That's why MAGA Mike is so desperate, and that's why his corrupt crony PAC has been running a horrendously racist AI-generated attack ad against El-Sayed, baselessly accusing him of supporting terrorism just because he's a Muslim. Will you chip in to help Abdul El-Sayed fight back against these smears?
Trump says Iran war ended eight months before it began
Relax, everyone. Donald's disastrous, economy-crushing misadventure in the Middle East is NOT entering its eighth month with no end in sight! Why, that would be impossible because it actually ended eight months BEFORE it began when the president obliterated Iran's nuclear program last summer!
Our eloquent commander-in-chief explained, "They don’t talk about that. They say, oh, we’re in for six months into Iran. Iran is bigger. But we really ended it as soon as the B-2 bombers hit, because that was the end of their nuclear. That was 95% of the reason we did it. Maybe 100%."
The B-2 bombers he's talking about, of course, were deployed in June 2025, the first time we "completely and totally obliterated" Tehran's nuclear facilities.
Listen, just because the gobbledygook spilling out of Trump's mouth is illogical, incomprehensible, and utterly disconnected from reality doesn't mean it isn't also true. No, wait, that's exactly what it means.

GOP senator calls out Trump's crypto profits, Don Jr.'s Russian wedding gift
It's that time of the week again when a retiring Republican senator, unshackled from the restraints of the cult he helped normalize, appears on cable news to finally speak milquetoast truth to power! North Carolina's Thom Tillis stopped by the studios of MS NOW yesterday to — checks notes — hawk his new book (of course!) and darned if he didn't have a few salty words for the grifter-in-chief's brazen campaign of corruption.
MS NOW's Stephanie Ruhle asked, "Do you think we have ever seen this level of corruption, with the billions of dollars the president and his family are making?" prompting the following reply from the outgoing Republican senator: "Whether or not it’s illegal remains to be seen. It will probably be the subject of an investigation next year if the House flips, appropriately so." Tillis continued, "Anytime a president makes a billion dollars in the same year that people are growing up in a trailer park—" when Ruhle interjected with a timely correction: "Way more than a billion."
It would be so nice if any of these Republican enablers could manage to locate their spine BEFORE calling it a day on their political careers and heading for the exit.
FBI rolls out partisan, campaign-style propaganda ad touting Kash Patel's leadership
It would seem the president isn't the only MAGA goon funneling taxpayer dollars into blatantly partisan advertising campaigns these days. The FBI turned heads and furrowed brows with a two-minute-long propaganda video yesterday castigating various Democratic politicians by name and directly attacking Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for US Senate from Michigan.
The video also praises Patel's leadership, peddles wildly distorted crime statistics, and weirdly makes no mention of Kash's curious misuse of the bureau's private jets to attend his 27-year-old fiancée's music concerts.
Take Action: Fire Kash Patel for his corruption and incompetence immediately!
TRUMP GOONS DESTROYED ANCIENT COTTONWOOD TREE!
For months, environmental activists sat in a giant, 250-year-old cottonwood tree in Arizona in hopes of stopping the Trump regime from bulldozing it to make way for his cursed border wall. That ended this week when Border Patrol agents raided and forcibly removed the protesters, assaulting them and arresting at least 10.
The ancient cottonwood — the last of four dubbed "the Grandmothers" — has now been destroyed, another natural wonder extinguished to make way for Trump's monument to hatred and bigotry.
Trump bans Dem governor from speaking at event in his home state
Maryland Democratic Gov. Wes Moore was barred from speaking at an event in Baltimore County yesterday announcing the construction of a two-million-square-foot submarine manufacturing facility — a deal that Moore himself helped put together and that is expected to create thousands of jobs. Trump was on hand to take credit for the project, which is kinda weird since he never misses an opportunity to go full racist Facebook uncle and talk about what a disgusting shithole he thinks Baltimore is.
Moore took the the slight in stride, telling reporters, "If the president of the United States wants to bring the circus in town and tell me that I’m not allowed to speak, despite the fact we were the ones that helped bring the deal, then I will let the circus be conducted while I go back to the work of the people of Maryland."
Gavin Newsom calls Trump "mentally ill" in 25th Amendment plea after "take out" LA crack
The Democratic governor of California minced no words a day after Donald Trump riffed waaay off the cuff about Los Angeles or San Diego being "taken out" by Iran, calling the president "mentally ill" and demanding his Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment and remove the 80-year-old malcontent from office without further delay.
Something tells us no one in the president's peanut gallery is going to rise to the occasion, but it is remarkable nonetheless that the governor of the country's most populous state is speaking this frankly and openly about the commander-in-chief's mental decay.
Folks, Donald keeps telling everyone to pretend that he's on the ballot in November. Let's all please definitely do that.

GOP Senate candidate said AI should be used to determine Social Security eligibility
In previously unreleased audio from 2025, Republican candidate for Senate Mike Rogers can be heard telling Michiganders that artificial intelligence should be deployed to determine Social Security eligibility and root out what he claims is systemic fraud within the hugely popular social welfare program.
Rogers has a long history of targeting entitlement programs, having repeatedly pushed for privatizing Social Security, reducing benefits, and raising the retirement age during his time in the US House.
Hopefully voters in Michigan will use actual intelligence to reject Rogers and his economy-crushing ideas and instead send Abdul El-Sayed to DC to continue his fight to protect Social Security, pass Medicare for All, and finally make Rogers' incredibly wealthy pals pay their fair share.
