MIDDLEBORO REVIEW AND SO ON

This is another moment when a 1-minute call to your state representative could make a big difference: Call your state rep and tell them you oppose huge cuts to the state's energy-efficiency program TODAY, before this afternoon's vote.

BACKGROUND: Many of you called back in November to help stop the Climate Rollback Bill (H.4744) that would have eliminated the state's 2030 climate and environment goals.

The bill has been redrafted and rushed through as the Energy Omnibus Bill (H. 5151). Our partners from Mass Power Forward, the coalition of 250 groups throughout the state that we're part of, will be at the State House all day. Support them by calling your state representative now.

The bill has many improvements, including ones we fought for, such as keeping 2030 climate goals and eliminating subsidies for biomass.

But there's a giant poison pill: it would cut $1 billion of the $1.5B MassSave budget. If this cut goes through, it would gut energy efficiency and electrification work for much of the state, leading to thousands of clean-energy worker layoffs and more costs for the electric grid.

Legislators who are serious about saving ratepayers money should target the obscene scale of corporate profiteering, not a program that saves residents about $3 in benefits with every dollar spent.

WHAT TO DO: Call your representative today and tell them you oppose the cuts to MassSave in H.5151 and you support amendment 113 (most important).

Ask them to support amendments 6, 31, 37, 55, 98, and 113 (Mass Save) and to oppose amendments 34, 91, 124. For a good summary, see the Mass Power Forward Action Guide.

You can find your state representative here.
