1 in 7 homes

Katie Porter for Congress

In 2021, investors bought nearly one in seven homes sold in the 40 largest metropolitan areas.

That’s a real problem because corporate landlords tend to be more likely to evict tenants and aggressively raise rents, and they worsen our country’s existing housing crisis. These Wall Street investors have targeted Black neighborhoods, contributing to gentrification and preventing families from being able to afford to purchase a home.

Katie co-sponsored the Stop Wall Street Landlords Act to rein in the greed of Wall Street and help make housing more affordable. Sign our petition to show your support for passing this bill.

While campaigning, Katie heard from plenty of families who were concerned their kids won’t be able to afford to live in the same Orange County neighborhoods they grew up in. The rising cost of housing is squeezing families, and Congress needs to act to ensure private equity firms don’t own all of our homes.

Thanks for being on Team Porter.
