I don’t say this enough: Thank you. You’re the reason I get to do this work at all, and I don’t take a day of it for granted.

Great News For Democracy That’s Terrible For Trump. Wonderful.
Fifteen people went home. A pollution plan died. A Republican lost his own city. Eight big wins inside.
Happy Saturday, friend. I’m glad you’re here.
Sit with me for a minute before the weekend gets going. Around here, Saturdays are for rounding up eight wins against the regime, and this week gave me plenty to work with.
Before you read, hit the ❤️ like button and restack this. Trump needs you thinking he never loses. Restacking shows everybody who follows you that he does.
And if you’re reading for free, here’s what we do. Every day I cut through Trump’s lies and report on what’s really happening. Then we hand you a ready-to-send letter to tell your members of Congress exactly what you think—over 796,000 delivered since November 2024. And we run some of the biggest anti-Trump campaigns on social media, so the truth breaks out to people who’d never find it on their own.
Three times a week I go further, with an analysis I only send to paid subscribers—what I think actually happens in November. There are 101 days until the election, and we need 34 new paid subscribers this weekend. I hope you’ll be one of them:
1. TRUMP PICKED THE JUDGE. THEN HE LOST.
Trump put Eric Tostrud on the federal bench. On Monday, Tostrud threw out the regime’s entire lawsuit. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison keeps every limit his state put on police helping ICE. Those officers work for the state, not the White House.
2. TRUMP’S LAWYERS QUIT. NAVARRO STILL LOST.
Peter Navarro defied a Jan 6 subpoena and served four months in federal prison for it. The DOJ refused to defend the conviction, so Navarro’s lawyer argued the appeal with nobody on the other side. Three judges upheld it Tuesday. The privilege he hid behind was never his to take.
3. FIFTEEN WALKED OUT. ICE COULDN’T STOP IT.
Seventeen people were supposed to walk out of immigration detention in Nevada, but ICE kept the doors shut for months. Judge Richard Boulware wrote that the government was rebelling against the basic rule that court orders get obeyed. He put sanctions on the table. Fifteen of those detainees are now free.
4. A TRUMP ALLY’S CNN GRAB JUST STALLED
A Trump-friendly family was about to buy CBS News and CNN. A dozen Democratic attorneys general sued to stop it. On Friday, the deal got frozen until 2027.
5. THOUSANDS OF BALLOTS JUST GOT SAVED
For years, Kansas gave mail ballots a few extra days to arrive, so votes stuck in the mail still counted. Last year, Republicans took those days away. This month, weeks before the August primary, Judge Carl Folsom put them back. Without his ruling, thousands of ballots would be thrown out.
6. THEY PULLED THEIR MONEY. THE BANK CAVED.
For months, towns and everyday people moved their money out of Citizens Bank. They were angry it loaned money to the two biggest ICE detention contractors. It added up to hundreds of millions of dollars. Then Citizens gave in and said it would cut ties with both companies. The bank won’t call that a loss, but we all know it was.
7. SEVEN THOUSAND COMMENTS, ONE DEAD PERMIT
Ohio’s environmental agency wanted to let data centers dump wastewater into rivers, streams, and Lake Erie. That water can carry PFAS, forever chemicals that never break down. Seven thousand people wrote in against it, and the agency backed off. Those strangers just did the job lobbyists get paid big bucks for.
8. HE QUIT HIS SEAT TO RUN FOR MAYOR
Arizona Republican Jeff Weninger already represented Chandler at the state capitol, so winning its mayor’s race should’ve been easy. Instead he lost by seventeen points to Matt Orlando, a retired Air Force colonel backed by local Democrats. Weninger had given up his statehouse seat to run. Now he has neither.
The whole Trump propaganda machine runs on one simple idea—that power belongs to whoever has the most money, the biggest platform, and the loudest microphone.
Nobody in this edition could be bought or bullied. Trump has every kind of power there is, and this week it still wasn’t enough. It won’t be enough next Saturday either, when it’s somebody else’s turn in some town most of us hadn’t heard of before.
We go where nobody else looks, then hand you something to do about it. That’s what a subscription pays for. We’ve got a little over three months to flip Congress. Help us get there by becoming a paid subscriber today:
Then hit the ❤️ like button and restack this before you close it. One restack drops the truth in front of somebody who’s convinced nothing ever changes. Give them the week they didn’t hear about.
Onward!
Scott

COMMENTS:
The Ohio permit surprised me the most. Seven thousand people wrote in and the agency backed off. That’s proof that steady, local pressure can beat corporate influence, and it gives me real hope.

UKRAINE, without US SUPPORT, is targeting RUSSIAN Oil and Wildberries (from PARNAS PERSPECTIVE):
Ukraine struck three more Wildberries warehouses overnight, hitting the Russian e-commerce giant’s facilities in St. Petersburg, the Leningrad region, and Russian-controlled Simferopol. Founder Tatyana Kim said staff evacuated in time and no casualties were reported, though the company is now scrambling to redistribute goods across its network. This marks the fourth strike on Wildberries since last weekend and the eighth warehouse hit since July 18, when an initial attack killed eight workers, part of a broader Ukrainian campaign Zelensky says targets logistics hubs supplying Russian forces, a claim the Kremlin denies. Separately, a Russian missile strike on Ukraine’s Kyiv region killed six people and injured dozens on Friday, according to Zelensky.
DEMAND PROGRESS circulated a PETITION to deny ARMS FUNDING TO ISRAEL!
SUPPORT is growing in the House!
The House of Representatives had a chance to deny funding for the Israeli military and stop supporting Israel's atrocities in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Iran.
104 lawmakers, including your representative, voted to reject $3.3 billion in taxpayer funding for Israel, a historic show of opposition to America's unconditional support for Israel's genocidal violence.1
Rep. Keating took a courageous stand that we can build on to finally stop our government from sending billions in weapons and our tax dollars to the Israeli military. It’s important that we show Rep. Keating our support for this vote, and urge them to keep fighting to break through the weakening pro-Israel consensus in Washington.

AIPAC = ANTI-DEMOCRACY is LOSING!
In MICHIGAN: The endorsement comes as new Federal Election Commission filings released Thursday showed El-Sayed’s grassroots fundraising advantage. Between July 1-15, he raised over $2.3 million from individual donors compared to about $921,000 for Stevens during the same period.
The divide is even starker among small donors, where El-Sayed leads Stevens by nearly 9-to-1.

WE know how detrimental DATA CENTERS are to water, energy, the environment and they DO NOT CREATE JOBS....DEMENTIA DON doesn't work for COMMUNITIES and is spewing NONSENSE!
As Outcry Grows Over Data Centers, Trump Claims ‘Smart’ Towns Want the Energy-Sucking, Water-Guzzling Facilities
The president’s comments revealed how he is “detached from the feelings of working-class communities, in many ways,” said one progressive organizer.
excerpt:
Days after his own supporters organized 142 demonstrations against artificial intelligence data centers in 42 states, President Donald Trump claimed that “smart communities” across the US “really want” the facilities known for raising electricity bills, consuming millions of gallons of water daily, and creating few permanent job opportunities.
At an event promoting his “Ratepayer Protection Pledge”—a plan to secure deals with major tech companies to keep household utility bills down in communities with data centers, which experts say is unlikely to produce meaningful savings for families—the president suggested that recent polls showing 7 in 10 Americans oppose data centers in their towns are the result of “propaganda... trying to convince everybody that this isn’t a positive thing.”

Backsliding on Climate Could Cost Not Only Elections But Lives
Economic populism goes hand in hand with a clean energy transition.
By Emma Buretta
excerpt:
Economic populism goes hand in hand with a transition to green energy, as 90% of renewable energy is now cheaper than fossil fuels. Voters recognize that public investments in clean energy, public transit, and other climate-friendly policies ultimately save them money.
In New York, one of Mamdani’s core promises—Free, Fast Buses—was proof of this. In DC, a core component of Lewis George’s campaign was affordable energy for all, with a focus on expanding community and government solar to cut electric bills. In Denver, Kiros also campaigned on combining economic and environmental issues with her support of a Green New Deal.
These recent victories owed much to the young people who powered their campaigns. It was also overwhelmingly young people who organized the 75,000 person March To End Fossil Fuels in 2023 and organized 500,000 people around the US against fossil fuels in 2019.

Thanks for reading. Keep fighting: restack this, send the letters, and share these stories with someone who needs to hear them. Every restack and every letter builds momentum.
Keep up the great work Sam talk to you in like five minutes lol
Somewhat unrelated, but I'm really looking forward to the Attorney General Jack Smith era.
I am 100% down for it
A truly great reason for great celebration!!!
Wouldn't that be a breath of fresh air! :-)
We'd have to empty our prisons of all those poor kids busted for dime bags and fill them with Republicans.
Republicans with empty pockets after they paid out for all of their insider money dealings!!!
ME TOO!!!!!! oh the bright light of AG Jack Smith at the end of this dark tunnel!!!!! whooty shoot shoot!!!!!
Comment: I am pleased, tickled pink pleased, with all 8 of the wins this week! Thanks. #2 is a surprise and OMG - delighted to know that Navarro's use of "executive privilege" is TOAST. Some of these wins occur in the most unlikely places. Naturally, I am giddy with happiness about the win in Minnesota. We're so damn lucky to have Keith Ellison as our AG.
Democracy = rolling thunder in the courts!
Great on Citizens Bank! I saw Capital One on a list as being a top donor for pro ICE candidates! Is that true? I moved money to support them after they froze Trump accounts after Jan.6! They ranked above AMAZON on the list! Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hi Lisa! You're spot on about the accounts—Capital One definitely froze/closed them after Jan. 6. I'll have to check out that ICE donor ranking comparing them to Amazon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and moving your support!
15 walking out of ICE Is great but what about the other 2. Why do they think they can hold them against a court order?
Right?! It's completely infuriating. From what we've seen, ICE basically ignores the spirit of the court order by slapping a 'flight risk' label on them so they can bypass the rules. It's a classic delay tactic, and the legal team is still battling to force their release
Update on Katie Phang’s action to release Epstein files, please.
Hey Phyllis-Great question! Katie Phang is still actively fighting this. She just recently filed an injunction to force the DOJ to stop stalling and unredact specific emails and withheld FBI documents. It's a huge push for transparency—I'll definitely keep an eye on how the judge rules!
I was surprised about the decision to pause the Ellisons from buying CNN. I find that heartening .
Cutting ties with the the ICE contractor's hired to build the retention centers. I was a grown lady before I learned that our government imprisoned the Japanese people, who had been living in our country for some time, in concentration camps during WW2. We now have a government who has imprisoned thousands of Mexican American's who have lived in our country for years. Paid taxes just like every American born here has, contributed to our workforce and our society, raised their children who became educated citizens. They are imprisoned in hell holes and dying and our government could care less. They have been denied their due process of the law and our government could care less. I am an American citizen, born and raised here for 90 years, by good and loving parents, who taught me not to look down on brown and black and souls. I am not a Proud American citizen anymore. I am ashamed of my country right now . I am ashamed of the fact we began a war with Iran for no apparent reason. These hell holes need to be closed. Each and everyone one of them should be given their right of due process. ICE needs to be closed down and let the Boarder Patrol handle the immigration problem. Thank you, BC
I continue to be surprised by the stupidity of this regime. Why do they honestly think they can sneak and do things that everyday people tell them, "NO, YOU MAY NOT!" Dishonesty, greed, evilness just have absolutely no place in our government! If we cannot trust our government to work for all Americans and not just those in their party and the top 1%, then those politicians need to be voted out and candidates that will serve the people voted in!
I have to say, this one part of your essay today really got to me, and shows how The People have the power to - we just need to organize and USE it, CHANNEL it… Americans can do so much and we aren’t!
“Seven thousand people wrote in against it, and the agency backed off. Those strangers just did the job lobbyists get paid big bucks for.”
This campaign stopped PFAs being dumped into our natural water sources. It luckily stopped yet another environmental disaster. But there are countless other similar disasters happening and we have to - really, we have no choice - we HAVE to confront climate change and environmental destruction before it’s too late!!
