AOC FORCES EPA TO ACT

AOC carried two jars of brown water into a House Energy and Commerce hearing on Wednesday and showed them to Trump EPA assistant administrator Jessica Kramer.
The water came from Trump-voter Beverly Morris, who lives 400 feet from Meta’s 2.5-million-square-foot data center campus in Morgan County, Georgia. It’s a place where Trump won by more than 70%.
Kramer admitted she didn’t know whether any federal mandate requires water testing before data center construction begins. By the end of the hearing, AOC got Kramer to commit under oath to review issues with the water.
Morgan County gave Trump their votes. Meta got their water. AOC got them a federal commitment.
NEWSOM PROTECTS WORKERS

Speaking of Meta—they announced 8,000 layoffs last Wednesday, crediting AI. Cisco cut 4,000 jobs earlier this month. Block cut 4,000 in February. Same story, different logos.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom stepped up—signing a first-of-its-kind executive order directing state agencies to provide support and retraining for AI-displaced workers.
California Labor Federation president Lorena Gonzalez was blunt: “Catastrophic job loss from AI is not inevitable, it’s a political choice.” California chose workers.

Rep. Steve Cohen has represented Memphis, Tennessee, for 19 years. Republicans cut his district into pieces, and he decided to retire—but not without a fight.
Cohen told The Dworkin Report in 2019: “[Trump’s] life has been one crime after another. One misdeed after another. One lie after another.” Now he’s applied that same standard to the man who put Trump above the law.
On May 21, Cohen introduced six articles of impeachment against Chief Justice John Roberts. Charges include allowing the Court to become a partisan weapon, placing the president above the law, endorsing a corrupt campaign finance system, and failing to recuse himself while his wife collected millions recruiting attorneys for law firms with cases before the Court.
Cohen was direct: “Under Chief Justice Roberts’ stewardship, [The Supreme Court] is now understood as biased: with decisions designed to benefit Republicans at the expense of representative government.”
They gerrymandered Cohen’s district to silence him. John Roberts now has six articles of impeachment to his name—an award no other Chief Justice has ever received in US history.
JUDGE TOSSES BOGUS CASE

The Trump regime illegally deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison in March 2025. The Supreme Court unanimously ordered his return. The regime brought him back and immediately charged him with crimes stemming from a 2022 traffic stop that had already been investigated and closed.
On Friday, US District Judge Waverly Crenshaw threw out all charges. The judge found that the case was reopened to punish Abrego Garcia for winning his deportation case. The judge wrote: “The evidence before this Court sadly reflects an abuse of prosecuting power.”
Abrego Garcia is home with his wife and American-citizen children in Maryland. The regime is still looking for a way to deport him—but the criminal case was thrown out forever.
None of these wins were given to us. Every single one was earned. AOC flew to a Trump stronghold and listened. Cohen is going out swinging. California stood up for displaced workers. And a judge threw out the regime’s bogus charges.

Sadly, this is going to happen more and more. AI’s goal is simply to increase profits for the corporations because they won’t have to hire many real people. It is not about making information more accessible…these tech bros are creating Hal.

Sorry to hear that. My youngest brother was born deaf and relies on the closed captions to understand what’s going on in the world. Unfortunately, I had noticed that the close captions have degraded badly since AI took over. There’s too many words in English that sound alike or are spelled the same, that AI cannot handle. With the current administration, no one cares about the deaf, so they’ve eliminated sign language interpreters on most government briefings.
That’s awful. We need you. AI makes horrid mistakes (well, not only in this area).
That is terrible, Rosie. Especially since you were providing a vital service to the hearing impaired. I wouldn't be surprised if AI messes up on those closed captions.
I'm so sorry. It's been obvious for a while that CC is going to AI. I use the CC a lot....between ADD and certain accents, the CC makes things easier. Yes, CC has its. (limited) uses, but it can't replace people in a lot of jobs. Sadly, it is coming for teachers in many areas. IDIOTS are using it to replace nurses and doctors.
AI rarely knows the difference between reign (as in, rule over) and rein (as in, hold back).
That is so disgusting. I have noticed some weird closed captioning lately, of course it makes sense that they would prefer not to pay anyone for anything like that which is for people who have a handicap. So wrong.
It’s not just for that. It’s also for deciphering the last line of dialogue, critical to the plot, that you just can’t decipher no matter how many times you rewind the scene.
And now Closed Captioning has myriads of misspelled words/names.
CC has never been immune from that, although it’s more noticeable recently.
Sadly, the funny mistakes are fewer but the annoying ones are more frequent.
There is a big problem in Orange County where thousands have had to evacuate because of a possible explosion. This is costly for the cities and their citizens. More care needs to be given to putting dangerous facilities in neighborhoods!

Representative Steve Cohen is a hero for detailing all the reasons for which Chief Justice Roberts should be impeached and I say- “Join in!” I will be writing my Congressman and Senators about this TODAY.
As for AI- I HATE it. AI messages constantly flood my Zoom calls ( do I want a summary of what is discussed? No!! I have my own mind!!!) and my Gmail and Word when I am writing something. (I don’t need your oversimplifications!!! I am completely capable at setting down my OWN thoughts!)
And they make it so darn difficult to turn it off!
AI has its limited use. Go ahead and use it as a doctor/nurse to make dictations easier and prevent stupid lawsuits. If it can cure cancer/ALS, etc. go ahead. Don't try to cure ADD/Autism with AI or something else.
A democratic legislator should propose a public utility that absorbs all of the soon-to-be-bankrupt AI company's AI models, and fund it with Trump's slush fund. Not all AI companies will go out of business, but the AI bubble will pop eventually, and there should be legislation that enables a public utility to pick up the pieces and deliver all the profits to each American.
I'm retired, so AI hasn't taken away a job. But that doesn't mean that I'm immune from AI's impact. AI is having an impact on all our lives. Technology has changed at overwhelming speed at the end of the 20th century and 26 years into the 21st century. It's happening faster than our brains can absorb it all. AI has the potential for great good. It can free us from drudgery and allow us to use our time to do the things that we love doing. Or it can be used against us, to exploit us and rule us through fear and constant surveillance.
AI is human created, human controlled and humans are the AI masters. AI is our servant. We humans must never forget that!!!
We have to make laws to control the use of AI, with strict penalties for its misuse
I was born in 1940, and have seen the most consequential progress in technology in history happen during my 86 years. Flight has exceeded all expectations in that time, we’ve gone to the moon and returned. The small computer I hold in my hand (my iPhone) was not even a consideration when I, as a child, picked up the telephone on our hall table to hear “number please”. Cars and trucks have computers in their engines that aid in many different ways. Backing up, temperature controls, GPS, and many others could not have been imagined in a car built in the 1940s.
AI is another advance in technology that has both good and evil built into it. Regulation is necessary to prevent the evil part of it from endangering human beings.
Thank you for your reporting of what our country is fighting against. Small victories, like Abrego Garcia and holding the EPA accountable used to be the norm in our society. Fighting against corruption, government over-reach and corporate pollution were the things that made America a better place. A country and an economy the world envied. We were problem solvers and strengthened by the support of our Allies. The world no longer looks at us for protection. We have become the problem and the aggressor instead of the defender of freedom. Trump's America now attacks countries without provocation. We have become Russia and Trump is America's Putin.
I wonder if Morgan County will still support all of the tRump regimes illegal and selfish acts. Maybe they don't care about a few residents with contaminated and filthy water? AI CAN be a great tool in the right hands and for certain applications, but as a tool to assist humans and not as a human replacement. In no case does all data need to be in the cloud, touched by AI and tracked and 'analyzed'. This, we do not need such huge days centers. Perhaps we should all focus on training people how to think critically and do their own research rather than rely on biased and often incorrect AI output.
So I assume there’s no chance Justice Roberts will actually get impeached (😠 dang!) but Cohen has made his beautiful point and has made memorable quotes I’ll carry with me. I would have have added curse words and insults to his accusations because I’m spitting mad, but he wisely didn’t do that (swearing and invective undermine any message, no matter how satisfying it is to the messenger): “Under Chief Justice Roberts’ stewardship, [The Supreme Court] is now understood as biased: with decisions designed to benefit Republicans at the expense of representative government.”
(Cohen put it on record, now, for the ages - though to everyone here today: we’re all thinking, “well, duh.”)
John Roberts has led the UNsupreme court away from the constitution and into corruption of the Rule of Law. Rather than defending the constitution, he has chosen to make his own law. He deserves to be impeached along with his fellow MAGAts. This corrupted court is as rotten as the corrupt pedophile president.
You may be interested to know that I brought up environmental impact concerns while attending an AI training seminar last year. I was one of 2 people in a large conference room to mention this - hopefully this kind of pushback will pick up more steam as people see the effects (though it would be great to avoid them instead).
There will always be jackasses (I'm being kind) but it's always good to remind ourselves that had we dished out the appropriate accountability after the Civil War, we may have dealt with White Christian Nationalism as a serious threat. All of these MFs need to be held to account. They are criminals according to the very laws they claim to defend. LOCK THEM UP.

Much as Gov Newsom’s actions in California are warranted, there is a problem: the same people who are profiting handsomely from the expansion of AI are putting the burdens of it on the rest of us. So average people lose their jobs, their water, their health, and all of us, as taxpayers, have to pick up the slack. The same thing happened during the financial crisis. This is what kleptocracy on a massive scale looks like. The tech companies that are profiting from AI need at a minimum to be made to participate in the support, retraining, and reintegration into the workforce of the people they are replacing with robots. Their shareholders can afford it.

I am loving Rep. Cohen's move. Even if it doesn't come to fruition, just having it on Chief Justice Traitor's record is good. And his wife unethically benefitting from these court cases? Further proof that these six Conservatives are as corrupt as the regime they are so fond of working in favor of. NEVER want to hear Roberts or the other five conservatives whine about how no one respects SCOTUS
