Despite a torrent of criticism, Senate Republicans are unrepentant: they want to cut Social Security.
Both Rick Scott1 and Mitt Romney2 have made proposals in recent weeks to slash Social Security benefits, despite the soaring cost of living. Despite criticism, they're not backing down.
Thankfully there's a bill right now in Congress that would instead expand benefits and ensure Social Security remains strong for the rest of the century.
It's called Social Security 2100, and Congress needs to pass it ASAP.

Republican Senator Rick Scott endorsed a policy agenda that would sunset any law after 5 years unless Congress renewed it – that includes Social Security.
As the nation recovers from the pandemic and with prices rising because of inflation, we should be strengthening Social Security. That's what the Social Security 2100 would accomplish. But Congress has to pass it first.
