Procter & Gamble is turning a profit at the expense of our forests TREE TO TOILET PIPELINE

When you enter a bathroom, you might find a bottle of Head & Shoulders shampoo, or a roll of Charmin toilet paper. But did you ever realize the true cost of these products? I don’t mean the cost at the store, but rather the price that old-growth forests like the “Amazon of the North,” Indigenous communities, and our planet pay to make these and other Procter & Gamble products?

Human rights violations. Harmed wildlife. Irreplaceable ancient trees cut down. These are some of the dire consequences of P&G’s sourcing of virgin fibers and conflict palm oil for its products. And all of this is pushing us further into climate catastrophe.

P&G is turning a profit at the expense of our forests and our collective future on this planet. We can’t let it continue on this destructive path -- not when there is so much at stake.

The "Amazon of the North” is being flushed away. Stop Procter & Gamble from destroying forests and make your $15 contribution today.

Procter & Gamble’s suppliers are razing a SHOCKING one million acres PER YEAR -- just to be flushed away. And at the same time, animals’ homes, local communities’ protected lands, and a critical tool to combat climate change are going down the drain.

Forests like Canada’s boreal forest -- otherwise known as the “Amazon of the North” -- are important carbon sinks that store 36 years’ worth of fossil fuel emissions.

Instead of appreciating these forests for the protection they provide, P&G’s suppliers are cutting these forests down and making a major contribution to the 18% of greenhouse gas emissions that are caused by global deforestation. On top of this, they are responsible for encroaching on Indigenous peoples’ lands and neglecting to provide informed consent to surrounding communities that rely on these forests.

While Procter & Gamble has promised to address these gross infractions, it is not moving quickly enough. We need to increase the pressure and show that we need action now -- before it’s too late and our ancient forests are gone.

It’s easy enough to take steps to right these wrongs. Major retailers like Trader Joe’s and 365 Bath tissue have already committed to using recycled content for its paper products. It can be done -- all P&G needs to do is make that change to save our forests -- but they need to see that we are paying attention.

That’s why I’m asking for your help today. Your membership gift will allow us to demand that P&G switch to recycled materials and source conflict-free palm oil for its products, require informed consent from local communities that rely on the forests, oust climate deniers from its board, and help us fight for a just, sustainable future.

But as you read this, endangered animals are being forced out of their ancient forest homes. Make your $15 contribution today and protect our precious forests and our planet.
