We’re in the home stretch together, so here’s a detail I held back from today’s edition. The robbery victim in the fines story appealed the bill and sent in a stack of documents. The answer came back on a checkbox form, and the box for documents received was left empty, as if the victim had sent nothing at all. That’s how much care Trump’s regime put into a bill for about $1.8 million.

We Are Not Expendable. Trump’s Congress Is.
Trump wrote off two American cities for applause. Here’s why he’ll be impeached again. Plus: a soldier’s million-dollar bill, an FBI whistleblower, and a newsroom that outlasted a Trump donor.
Thanks so much for joining me today. The other night, Trump stood in front of a rally in Nebraska and said, “Let them take out Los Angeles.” His crowd cheered. I didn’t. Today I share my thoughts on that, plus three stories about people who wouldn’t back down.
Before we jump in, hit the ❤️ like button, then restack this edition. Restacking puts it in front of everyone who follows you, like handing your newspaper to a friend on the bus. One of today’s stories is about a soldier’s family the regime billed for more than a million dollars, and what happened next. Trump would rather that story stayed in a court file, but you and I won’t let it.
We investigate the Trump regime where corporate media won’t, and we help lead the resistance by organizing our enormous pressure campaigns on Congress: more than 880,000 letters sent since November 2024. Our social media Watchdog Coalition fights MAGA propaganda every day, and our posts get seen billions of times a month.
We can do it all because we’re 100% independent, but that means we rely entirely on our readers for our funding. So if you haven’t yet, join us as a paid subscriber today to help us sprint through the election and beyond:
California Is Not Trump’s Small
Price To Pay
On Monday night in Nebraska, Trump told a rally that high prices from his war with Iran are “a small price to pay.” Then he said: “They can take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”
Two American cities, by name, in the middle of an unhinged rant about what things cost. And his crowd clapped. Sit with that. The man who’s supposed to protect this country waved off two of its cities for a cheer. He’s a coward with a microphone.
I was a deputy director on Barack Obama’s first inaugural committee. I helped run his train ride from Philadelphia to DC. And I stood next to him on stage on inauguration night. If Obama had said anything like this, they’d have impeached him by breakfast. Trump says this and gets applause from his cult.
His communications director claims that Trump meant a nuclear-armed Iran would’ve threatened American cities, even though his own Defense Intelligence Agency reported last year that Iran had no missile able to reach America. That’s the job working for the regime these days: follow Trump around with a mop. He’s the least serious man ever to hold the office, holding it in the middle of a war he started.
Gov. Gavin Newsom called him “deranged and dangerous,” then went further: “TIME FOR THE 25TH!” San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria fired back: “We are not expendable. And we are never a ‘small price to pay.’”
Notice which places came to mind for Trump. Not Mississippi or Alabama—but California, where he already sent in the Marines. Nearly 13 million people live in and around the two cities he mentioned. Not one of them is a price for Trump to set. He has spent his whole life sending the bill to someone else, and now he’s pricing cities like they’re one more thing somebody else will cover.
I ran the first campaign for Trump’s impeachment, so people ask me all the time if he’ll get impeached again. Here it is straight: You’re damn right he will, as long as everyone who can vote does. In 26 days voters can take this rubber stamp Congress away from him, and the people who’ve been clapping for him for a decade will start pretending they never did.
I’ve watched Trump since he first came down that tacky gold escalator. He’s not strong. He never has been. He’s a loud manbaby surrounded by greedy monsters in Congress who are terrified of him. In 26 days, we can throw these cowards out of power. Let’s go get it done.
The FBI Analyst Who Wouldn’t
Investigate Protesters
In February 2025, a TikTok video showed people in Alhambra, California, using megaphones to warn neighbors that immigration officers were nearby and not to open the door without a warrant signed by a judge.
A whistleblower complaint sent to senators Monday says FBI bosses were told that Trump saw it, got angry, and wanted the people with megaphones investigated and arrested.
The FBI squad that chases bank robbers was told to look into them. Two days later Jill Fields, a supervisory intelligence analyst in the Los Angeles office, read what the squad found: free speech, and nobody had blocked an arrest. That same morning, she says, word came that a case would be opened anyway, because “the President wants this investigation.”
Fields wouldn’t take part. Her boss agreed it was unconstitutional, the complaint says, but warned her she could be fired over it anyway.
A little over a month later, the FBI began taking away the programs she ran. She resigned, never learning whether a formal case was opened. The DOJ calls her complaint politically motivated. It would know a thing or two about that. But Fields kept handwritten notes. Sen. Alex Padilla, who says the complaint shows these investigations pulled FBI employees off drug trafficking, violent crime, and organized crime cases, has told the attorney general and the FBI director to answer his questions by October 12.
One supervisor said no, and now it’s Trump’s FBI getting the questions.
A Judge Just Froze Trump’s
Million-Dollar Fines
An Army soldier on active duty, his spouse, and their four American children depend on his paycheck. Trump’s regime sent that family a bill for more than a million dollars. Some thanks for a soldier.
The spouse is A.T. in court papers. An immigration judge had ordered A.T. deported, and the fine is for staying. But the government had also approved the soldier’s petition to sponsor his spouse. After the bill came, the Treasury moved to take A.T.’s wages and seized the couple’s tax refund. Then the government sued to collect.
Last year, the regime rewrote the rule so the bill comes by regular mail with no warning first. A robbery victim got one for about $1.8 million and swore, “At first, I thought this was a scam.”
The regime says it will forgive the bill for anyone who leaves the country through its phone app. It’s a threat with a dollar sign on it. But in a ruling posted Monday, Judge George O’Toole froze last year’s rule and every fine issued under it while the case goes on.
These families were told to pay up or get out. They went to a federal court instead, and the regime is the one that got told no.
Pittsburgh’s Strikers Just Won At The
Supreme Court
In July 2020, the Block family’s company, which published the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, declared contract talks with its journalists deadlocked and imposed its own terms. Its final offer had cut their health care. That fall, the paper endorsed Trump.
I pulled the donation records. Allan Block, then a co-owner, has given more than $22,000 to Trump’s campaigns and fundraising committees, including $5,600 that same year.
Union journalists walked out in October 2022 and stayed out three years. The federal labor board found the company had bargained in bad faith, and in November 2025 an appeals court agreed: union members “would have been afforded more rights working without a contract” than under the company’s proposals. The court enforced the board’s order to make employees whole for the pay and benefits they lost, with interest, and to cover the union’s bargaining costs.
In January the Supreme Court refused to put that ruling on hold. That same day the Blocks’ company said it would close the Post-Gazette, citing the rulings and years of losses. Told to follow the law, it reached for the off switch. The paper was sold instead. On Monday, the Court refused to hear the company’s appeal, and the ruling against it now stands for good.
Union officials expect staff to be owed several million dollars. Guild president Andrew Goldstein credits “the sheer willpower of a few dozen workers who decided to stand up and say enough was enough.”
Trump would love owners like the Blocks running every newsroom in the country. A few dozen journalists in Pittsburgh who went on strike outlasted them.
We have 26 days until the midterms, and the last month is when you run like you’re behind, no matter what the polls say.
Those journalists in Pittsburgh held out three years against the owners of their paper, including a Trump donor. Nobody owns this one but you. Nobody here has a favorite candidate to protect, so what you read here is what the record says.
Keeping it that way costs money, and paid subscribers are the only place it comes from. If you want somebody digging through the next court file before the regime can bury it, come be one of them. You’ll get my campaign analysis three mornings a week, and on Tuesday, November 3, you’ll be with me live on Substack starting at 8:30 PM Eastern while the results come in. I’d love the company. JUST A FEW COMMENTS OF MANY WORTH READING:
Dwight Eisenhower said those same words 75 years ago, and we are STILL overpowered by that military industrial complex. Except that NOW, the trump boys are beneficiaries of the complex. War = money for them. Same w/jared kushner. He has made beaucoup bucks off the Russia/Ukraine war. They have no incentive to stop wars.
I live in LA. My friends and I wouldn’t be surprised if the traitorous PedoFelon ordered a terrorist attack and immediately blamed Iran (ignoring there’s a very large Iranian population in SoCal). It’s so clear he’ll do anything to prevent the unredacted Epstein Files being released…even a war overseas and on our shores. #25thAmendment NOW.
Apparently the president of the United States didn't know that San Diego is a major city housing important military bases and thousands of our honorable and respected soldiers.
Or did he?
From San Diego Military Council - https://sdmac.org/

More than 115,000 active-duty service members are stationed here, roughly split between the Navy and the Marine Corps. Their presence shapes the region’s economy, its workforce, its research institutions, and its identity in ways that reach far beyond the base perimeter."

Trump never has had much upstairs. He is just a mentally incompetent spoiled brat who is a reality TV show drama actor. Daddy paid his way out of everything including military service. He learned to be a con man after always getting his own selfish way for 80+ years. He consistently thrives on attention. He is unfit to be a leader. Of course we all have known this for decades, but some people are ignorant of truth and facts that has always been right before their own eyes and refuse to let go of a party that is going down to the bottom of the humane society. His con has wiped up what actual few brain cells those people themselves possessed. The con man is going down and will be put in his place. The cult-like few sink to the lowest debts of society and will be crushed by the BIG BEAUTIFUL BLUE WAVE IN NOVEMBER💙🌊 VOTE EVERYBODY!!!!! WE CAN AND WILL KICK THIS REGIME OUT OF THE USA FOREVER!
I received a $90 deposit in my bank account this morning as did my husband. It said ‘social security’.
So these must be the bribes tRump is promising “our dear seniors”. We sent out 2 checks as a response; the first to the Democratic candidate for governor, the second to a food bank.
WoW... That's the way to respond... Bravo!!!
If we get them, we're doing the same.
If a Democrat even thought about doing the crap Trump does they’d be dragging the scaffolding from 1/6 back out. He is insane and continuing to allow him to be president is a crime.
Clean up on aisle 47 requires something more than just bleach. VOTE!
Republicans finally recognized Nixon's corruption and pushed him out so what has happened to them in the Trump era. We know they were never comfortable with a black president; is this when their fear and anger took over. There are many examples of righteous defiance but I’m going to say that the group running the Trump Epstein bookmobile are the ones I’m most proud of now!
The bravest action of resistance that first came to mind are for those who have lost their lives at the hands of ICE agents- in particular Renee Good and Alex Pretti.
The good news for today shows how important it is for the republicans to be booted from office. We will still have the idiot as our president, but Dems will be able to make some headway in creating change.
Thanks to Scott and his team for another day of great news! 26 days and the regime is pulling out all the stops with stuff like ballot seizures and voting machines being confiscated. It sounds like panic, and DonOld's stories are going off the rails almost hourly -- MSM making cricket 🦗 sounds.
Tomorrow is the Peace prize awards announcement, imagine the ketchup on the walls when Mr
8 Wars doesn't win! If Dr. Fauci wins or Minneapolis, there'll be a wave of condiments the likes we've never seen before!
Momentum is with us and we're going for the win!
Considering how little respect Drumpf and his toadies have for military people, I do not understand how supposedly 'patriotic' people can support him and them. The military personnel are willing to give their lives and health for the country whose president spits on them. WHY?
1. Chump doesn't have the power that he's projecting.
2. You are a lot tougher than your fear thinks you are.
3. Don't count on the polls. Remember 2016.....? Double down on getting out the vote. It is our best defense right now.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette won't close, sold to nonprofit media organization
By Andy Sheehan, Madeline Bartos
Updated on: April 14, 2026
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will stay open after it was sold to a nonprofit.
excerpt:
In a joint press release on Tuesday, Block Communications announced that it sold the paper and its name to the Venetoulis Institute for Local Journalism, which is a nonprofit based in Baltimore, where it publishes another paper called the Baltimore Banner.
Nonprofit buys Post-Gazette
The institute is headed by a hotel magnate named Stewart Bainum Jr., who believes in a nonprofit model to save newspapers. It's a trend across the country as nonprofits have stepped in to take over newspapers, which are bleeding money. In announcing plans to close the paper in January, the Block family called operations "no longer sustainable," saying they had lost $350 million over the past two decades.
"Local journalism is essential to a strong community, but across the country the business model has been under severe strain," Bainum said in the press release. "We believe there is a path forward — one that combines great journalism with a diversified business model built on scale and exceptional talent."
The news about the Post-Gazette's closure also came months after the union representing journalists returned to the newsroom following a three-year strike. Block Communications cited a court ruling in the union's favor as another reason for the closure.
