According to the Cook Political Report, three more US Senate races have now shifted toward Democrats, including in deep-red Kansas, which hasn't elected a Democratic senator in nearly 100 YEARS. Republican incumbent Roger Marshall is on the ropes, as his race against Democratic challenger is now officially a toss-up. Turns out suing patients and jailing women who can't afford their medical bills could cause, uh, electoral dysfunction.

Donald Trump went off the rails during a White House event for "Trump accounts" for children, (a program he has already held an announcement event for, with the exact same people present) in which he told a group of teen girls that they were "so good-looking" and to "stay over there for the press to admire you." Nope, not creepy at all. Super normal, sir.
Trump then went on a dictatorial tirade at the prospect of being impeached again, ranting that "I could've done very bad things to Hillary Clinton. I could've done very very bad things to Joe Biden. I could've done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama ... I can do whatever I want, if I want," before promptly falling asleep the moment he was no longer the center of attention.
Every single day, we are forced to confront the fact that our aging, pedophile-protecting president is sundowing before our very eyes, and it is a borderline act of treason that the Republican Party continues to enable his every psychotic whim. 25th Amendment now, please!

Trump hit with lawsuit for using taxpayer money to air MAGA propaganda
Folks, we knew it was only a matter of time before someone stepped up and filed suit against America's wannabe dictator for wasting $12 million in taxpayer funds on nakedly fascistic, pro-MAGA propaganda ads.
Yesterday, the Democratic National Committee stepped up to the proverbial plate and filed a 31-page complaint in Washington, DC, accusing Donald Trump of personally orchestrating the TV advertisements. According to the Associated Press, the Department of Homeland Security had set aside $20 million in taxpayer funds for the wildly unconstitutional campaign. Four ads were created in total, each with the same "Paid for by the US government" disclaimer. One spot literally just repurposed footage from a 2024 Trump campaign ad.
When asked if the ads were an appropriate use of tax dollars earlier this week, Vice President JD Vance responded with a straight face, "if you look at the message of those advertisements, they’re not partisan... it's not like we’re advocating for a particular candidate... We’re trying to tell a story..."
Oh, they're telling a story, alright.

Trump tells Texas crowd that wife Melania calls him "sir"
For some incredibly odd reason, Donald told Texas rally-goers last night that Melania, his third wife of 21 years, regularly calls him "sir." As in "no, I will not be moving back to DC with you, sir." And "keep your hands to yourself, sir." And "I obviously married you for the money and the green card, sir."
According to The Wall Street Journal, Kimberly Guilfoyle pleaded with a Republican donor to send her $100,000 to pay off her personal credit card debt ahead of her Senate confirmation hearing last year to become US ambassador to Greece. Guilfoyle, the ex-fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., wrote MAGA donor Eric Deters on Signal: "It won't show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express. Please."
According to The Journal, Guilfoyle and Deters had communicated for months as the latter sought help from the Trump administration on some tax and legal problems. Deters had promised Guilfoyle as much as $1 million if she was able to use her connections to the president to help him. Days before her confirmation hearing, Guilfoyle laid it on thick, writing: "Honey please I need you to get this done for me today." The 63-year-old Deters ultimately declined, telling Guilfoyle he would lose his wife if he ponied up. Deters also told The Journal that Guilfoyle’s inability to help him with his tax and legal issues had soured him on the Trump administration.

A Democratic congressional candidate in Arizona who alleges she was sexually assaulted while repairing a campaign sign in August told MS NOW she was going public with her allegations to support survivors of sexual abuse. "I can’t go around telling people I’m going to fight for them if I’m not going to fight for women who are victims of sexual violence," Bernadette Greene-Placentia said in an interview Wednesday.
Greene-Placentia, who is running to unseat Republican Rep. Abraham Hamadeh in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, told the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 31 that two weeks earlier, two men attacked her, knocking her unconscious, according to the incident report obtained by MS NOW.
She said she awoke to one of two men raping her, which the incident report characterizes as “rape.” She alleged the second man penetrated her before pulling out and saying, “not worth it,” using an expletive, which the report characterizes as “simple assault.” The allegations were first reported by the Phoenix New Times, an alternative weekly, earlier Wednesday.
The Democratic challenger said the alleged assault occurred while she was walking back to her car after repairing a campaign sign at around 2am. on Aug. 14 in a parking lot in Sun City, about 25 miles northwest of Phoenix.

Trump rails against nonexistent Democratic candidate in racist late-night post
According to America's racist Facebook-uncle-in-chief, a phantom candidate by the name of "Mohammed El-Sayed" is apparently on the warpath in Michigan. According to Trump, "Mohammed El-Sayed" — a made-up person who does not appear on ANY ballots anywhere in the United States — is a known "Terrorist Sympathizer" who "goes back to the days of the Jihad," whatever that's supposed to mean.
Donald is obviously trying to talk about Abdul El-Sayed, the Detroit-born-and-raised epidemiologist who is running neck and neck with MAGA dolt Mike Rogers for the open Senate seat in Michigan. Shortly after securing the Democratic nomination, El-Sayed issued a memorable response to a nakedly xenophobic attack ad from the Rogers campaign, stating: "They think they want to use my whole name against me. Mike, listen, man, if you can't say the name — it’s Abdulrahman — keep the name out of your damn mouth. I'll be happy to give you lessons."
To be fair to Donald, making up an entirely different first name is technically one way of "keeping the name out of your damn mouth," but we don't think that's exactly what El-Sayed had in mind.
Syrian general accused of atrocities is protected by US and Lebanon, NPR and BBC find
A former Syrian general facing US sanctions and wanted internationally for crimes against humanity is living quietly in Lebanon, bankrolled and protected by American and Lebanese authorities, a joint BBC and NPR investigation has found.
Bassam al-Hassan, who oversaw Syria's chemical weapons program and was a senior advisor to former President Bashar al-Assad, moved to Beirut after fleeing Syria following the Assad regime's collapse in 2024. An investigation by the BBC and NPR has found that Hassan has been allowed to remain there under an arrangement involving the FBI and other US and Lebanese authorities. This is at least partly because of his willingness to provide information about the abduction of American journalist Austin Tice in Syria in 2012, as well as additional intelligence, according to four sources familiar with the arrangement who asked to remain anonymous because of threats to their livelihood and safety.
