My story

 

My name is Steven Horsford, and I’m proud to represent Nevada’s 4th Congressional District and serve as Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus as well as the Co-Chair of the Labor Caucus.

In a minute, I’m going to humbly ask for a donation of just $4, but first, I wanted to tell you a bit about my story and what I’m fighting for in Congress.

I was born in Las Vegas and raised by a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support our family. Throughout my childhood, she made it clear that even though she was an immigrant, new to this country, America was our home. Her sacrifices showed me the true meaning of perseverance, commitment, and love.

And with her example of persistence, I became the first in my family to attend college.

I worked hard, overseeing the Culinary Training Academy, where I met countless working-class families like mine: Hard workers and driven individuals struggling to make ends meet or find affordable healthcare.

So when I won a seat in the Nevada Senate and became Nevada’s first black Senate Majority leader, I spearheaded the effort to work across party lines to solve the worst crises affecting the working-class.

But more work still needed to be done, so I threw my hat in the ring and ran for Congress. It wasn’t easy - Republican Super PACs spent MILLIONS opposing me - but we got the job done. Now, I’m fighting to hold onto my seat in 2024.

I’ve seen the American Dream in action - my family has lived it. Now, I want that dream to become accessible to EVERYONE regardless of background.

Since being elected to Congress, I’ve fought for legislation to make housing more affordable, bring down the cost of prescription drugs, and give working-class people a tax cut.

My colleagues have also entrusted me with the position of Congressional Black Caucus Chairman, which allows me to fight to build generational Black wealth nationwide alongside allies like Vice President Kamala Harris.

However, the Republicans are spending millions to try and flip this seat - and I’m building a people-powered campaign to stop them.
