VIDEO OF THE DAY: Supreme Court tosses mail ballot ban in humiliating defeat for Trump
In a 7-2 ruling, the Supreme Court just slapped down Donald Trump's desperate bid to ban mail-in ballots in the upcoming midterms and disenfranchise tens of millions of voters.
You will not be surprise to learn that Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas were the two dissenting votes. Even Trump's own justices couldn't stomach the wannabe dictator's nakedly authoritarian power grab, denying his attempt to enforce his unconstitutional executive order while the judicial process plays out.
Donald took the news in stride. Just kidding. He lost his marbles on Truth Social this morning, calling the justices he appointed "merely a shell of their original selves." Tsk, tsk.
Take Action: Demand Congress ban AI-generated political ads ASAP!
Ninety-two days after suffering a major medical episode at his Washington, DC home and disappearing from public view, Sen. Mitch McConnell was carted back into the Capitol in a wheelchair yesterday to ostensibly resume his congressional duties.
The emaciated 84-year-old reportedly cracked a joke about dodging reporters' questions for two decades (hiliarous!) and said his primary legislative focus going forward was passing the GOP's upcoming farm bill and securing NATO funding to support Ukraine.
It must be nice to have the kind of healthcare and employment benefits that afford a three-month-long absence from work after such a serious medical setback. All at taxpayers' expense, too, of course.
Fun facts: fewer than 4 in 10 private-sector workers in the United States have short-term disability insurance and more than 530,000 Americans file for bankruptcy due to medical-related setbacks each year.
Take Action: Stop DHS from spying on churches, unions and activists!
Paralympian Democrat Josh Turek goes for gold in must-win Senate race in Iowa
Josh Turek for US Senate: Josh Turek is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist for Team USA and self-described “prairie populist” currently representing the reddest state House seat held by a Democrat in all of Iowa. The same grit and determination that helped Josh overcome 21 surgeries by the age of 12 to become a US Paralympian will serve him — and all of Iowa — well in the US Senate, but he needs our help to win back the open seat currently held by retiring Republican Joni Ernst. Will you chip in to help Josh flip this critical seat back into the blue column and send an unmistakable message to Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress that a new day is dawning in America?
Well, well, well... what do we (not) have here? A federal watchdog report presented to Congress on Monday definitively concludes the US military is indeed suffering from munition shortfalls and supply chain bottlenecks as a result of Donald Trump's wildly misguided foray into regime change in the Middle East.
What's not in the report, but is easily inferred all the same, is just how thoroughly in over his sauced head Sec. of War Crimes Pete Hegseth truly is.

Steve Bannon turns on Trump to team up with Bernie Sanders over AI threat
The existential threat of runaway AI superintelligence is making the strangest of bedfellows, perhaps none more peculiar than Steve Bannon and...Bernie Sanders. Turns out the specter of total human annihilation is a bit of a head turner. So much so that even Bannon, perhaps THE figure most responsible for unleashing the MAGA cult leader into politics, isn't buying Trump's preposterous claim that the only guardrails needed to contain AI is a president with a "high IQ."
Ken Paxton accused of lunging at tourist who filmed him with his mistress
News that Texas state Attorney General Ken Paxton lunged at a fellow American tourist and tried to take the man's phone while walking with his alleged mistress in London this summer is perhaps the least surprising story of the political season.
The man used his smart phone to record a roughly 18-second clip of the pair walking in the street, and when confronted by Paxton freely admitted to doing so: "I can absolutely film you. You’re a public figure in a public place, and I can film you all I want," the man recalled.
True to form, Paxton snapped and lunged for the man's phone. Twice.
ICE locked people in outdoor cages the size of phone booths at Alligator Alcatraz
A disturbing new report yesterday revealed that the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General discovered two outdoor metal cages, roughly the size of a phone booth, where detainees were kept at the immigrant concentration camp known as "Alligator Alcatraz."
Laughably called "calming areas," at least 79 detainees were held in these small outdoor cages, according to the report. Detainees would spend between seven minutes and two hours in the cages, each four feet three inches wide and seven feet nine inches tall. Staff claimed that detainees would request time in these so-called "calming areas," and that they were never even locked. Uh huh. Both cages, however, included locking mechanisms.
If and when we get through this hellish chapter in our ongoing journey toward that mythical "more perfect union," we MUST hold the perpetrators of these heinous, inhumane crimes fully accountable. There can be no real progress without it.
Trump loses it after key Republican reportedly backs Democrat for 1st time in 30 years
Karl Rove, the chief architect of George W. Bush's rise to the presidency 25 years ago, committed a cardinal sin in the eyes of Donald by announcing his support for a Democrat in a race for a seat on the Texas Railroad Commission.
Rove hasn't had a political change of heart, mind you. He simply objected to a wildly racist post the Republican in the race, Bo French, shared on social media last weekend. But this is team sports, dammit, and anything less than total fealty to Donald and whomever he supports is the singular litmus test. "Karl Rove is so bad for the Republican Party, and completely wrong so often,” the wannabe dictator dictated for a Truth Social screed. "The guy is a stone cold loser!"
You love to hate to see it.
Trump brow-beats MAGA supporters to rush more campaign donations, citing Marine One's choppy wifi
Once a grifter, always a grifter. Even from the highest of perches.
Federal Reserve is expected to raise its benchmark rate on Wednesday, defying Trump’s demands
Hoo boy. Looks like somebody's gonna get a talkin' to from Dear Leader later this week!
Trump nominates Lee Greenwood's wife to serve as US ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean
Kimberly's qualifications for the post include being proud to be an American and standing next to the man who's declared several hundred thousand times that he'll "proudly stand up next to you and defend her still today," despite never serving a single day in the military.
Doom and doomer
And in other news
Hope...
