An ICE officer stopped a 47-year-old father from Ecuador on his way to drop his daughter off at school in New Haven, Connecticut. The agent saw the little girl, told the man to walk her into the school and come right back out to be detained.
He went in—but didn’t come back out. New Haven schools require ICE to show a warrant to step inside—they didn’t have one. The man got organizer John Lugo of Unidad Latina en Acción on the phone. Lugo told him to stay put.
Within the hour, activists were standing outside the school. The agents waited. Then the crowd grew. Around 11am, ICE gave up and left empty-handed. The father walked home a free man.
Think about what it took to spook ICE off a man they’d already cornered: not a lawyer, not a judge, just people like you and me who refused to look away. That’s the whole secret. When we show up for each other, nothing can stop us.
FOUR STATES WON’T LET ICE HIDE

ICE wants to operate in disguise. Four states refused.
Maine, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Washington each stopped providing ICE the unmarked license plates they use to snatch people off the street.
Last week, the regime ran to court and sued all four at once—because threatening them didn’t work.
Days after the lawsuit was filed, it backfired. Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek dug in—ordering state officials to keep denying ICE the plates. ICE agents, she wrote, “have repeatedly engaged in illegitimate activities, causing unwarranted chaos, sowing fear.”
Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey called the suit one more “specious complaint” the regime aims at its political enemies.
This is why it matters: ICE has arrested more than 7,000 people in Massachusetts alone since Trump took office—nearly half of those have no criminal record at all. They aren’t hunting criminals. They’re hunting our neighbors—and they were counting on staying anonymous. Four states just blew their cover.
REGIME GIVES GROUND IN NEWARK

Ariadna Zumba is 18 years old. She had legal status and a dream: finish high school and become a lawyer. None of it mattered to ICE. They grabbed her off the street in Orange, New Jersey, and threw her inside Delaney Hall—a private ICE prison—for two months.
She missed her graduation and prom. The crime? There wasn’t one. But the regime’s cruelty couldn’t break her. From inside that jail, Ariadna joined an ongoing hunger strike and spent her days translating for detainees who don’t speak English.
This week, after months of pressure from Rep. LaMonica McIver and New Jersey Democrats, she walked out the front door and went home.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill also stepped up in a big way, making ICE back down—not once, but twice in a single week. First, after ICE altercations created chaos outside the prison, she sent State Police to take control of the streets—shoving ICE right off the front line entirely. Then she forced the regime to resume family visits after they had abruptly cut them off in late May.
ICE built Delaney Hall to make people like Ariadna vanish in the dark. A governor who wouldn’t blink and a teenager who wouldn’t break dragged it into the daylight instead.
We won’t stop fighting until those doors close for good—and everyone still inside walks out like Ariadna did.
TRUMP’S BIG LIE DIED IN UTAH

Trump’s lied for years about immigrants flooding in to vote illegally. It’s the regime’s cover for the voter purges, the proof-of-citizenship laws, the demands for our private data, and the entire deportation machine itself.
In reality, he just wants to make it harder for us to vote—because the more people turn out, the less likely he wins.
So his own party went digging for “proof.” Utah’s Republican election chief spent over a year combing 2,069,640 voter records, hunting for the “fraud” Trump swears is everywhere. The grand total: 27 noncitizens found on the voter rolls—out of more than two million.
Then it got worse for him. Trump’s been forcing every state to run their voters through a federal system he swears will catch the cheaters. In Utah it failed—the state found it couldn’t reliably tell who was actually a noncitizen. He couldn’t find his villains, because they were never there.
Twenty-seven people—in a state he won, counted by his own party. That’s the “invasion.” That’s the army of illegal voters Trump is tearing families apart and shredding the Constitution to stop. Republicans will keep screaming the lie. Now you’ve got the receipt to shut them down every time.

Repeat it loudly. Trump made this lie up back in 2016 and has been repeating it ever since, but NEVER has he presented one shred of evidence. To quote Rudy G, we don’t have any evidence but we have lots of theories. (None of which were ever presented in 60 court cases because perjury was and still is a thing.

Ice Must Go! Kindness Must Win!
The rule of law must win. ICE must stop kidnapping people and ignoring court orders.
It isn't even about voting, but just a ploy by this Neo-Nazi Regime to remove black and brown people from America. As a White Woman, I see the racism of this regime. Just remember America, how poor the South was compared to the multicultural North during all the Jim Crow years. Sadly they are right back at it, with the Corrupt, Racist Supreme Court leading the way. This is what happens when schools teach nothing but coding and business, while short changing history and civics.
I would like to add that public tax dollars given to so many jokes of home schooling and private academies that aren't much better than the ignorant teaching the ignorant, are another thing that needs to be reined in, and hopefully eliminated. Don't give private schools a single dime, unless they can prove they prepare students better than the local public schools. So much to repair. By necessity as a nation, we have to get rid of the experiments that didn't work in all areas of National Like. And do it intelligently!
Thanks, Louise, and I agree with most of what you've said, but I also hope you understand that I feel that it's an overstatement of your case to say that schools teach only "coding and business." When I was in university (1965 -'74) I earned a BBA; this was not my 1st choice, but appease my wife & father & to finish a semester sooner than if I'd majored in Philosophy or English (it's not pertinent to our discussion to say why) - and getting a BBA was but one of those recommended by the university for pre-law aspirants like myself.
My point: I did take some Business Law courses as required and also economics and history, etc that were required and electives in philosophy, sociology etc. Neither "Business" nor "Capitalism" is, by itself, harmful.
Any academic field can be and has been perverted by students ignoring ethics and other fundamental values. (I believe it might be helpful to read books like "Supercapitalism" by former Sec. of Labor, Robt. Reich and "The Price of Inequality" by Nobel Laureate, Jos. Stiglitz).
There is much that can and should be done to improve our entire society - including our system of education (of course that is one area the terrible trumpians have attacked, destroying the Dept. of Ed.) We do have a lot of challenges to face and yet, still we will have many opportunities to make progress, if we don't let the nincompoop-in-chief & his gang of murderous traitors grind us down.

Don't get me wrong, there are fine private prep schools that flourished long before public money was diverted. But they are very expensive institutions because they spend so much money on hiring the best and brightest. The scam took place when people like our former Secretary of Education under Trump sold the idea that, that elite system could be reproduced in people's kitchens and back yard academies! Just a scam to scam parents out of their tax money for education!
Good clarification. I also did not mean all and mostly recent under Trump who want to ban books, not fund public schools, want to endorse religion in schools and just generally want to control our lives. So much for "small government." The liars. Good comment of yours to explain.
One of my neighbors was snatched by ice on April 15th. She was going to buy plants for her garden. From what I read on the GoFund me for her she was granted Withholding of Removal in 2015. She has lived under ICE supervision ever since, fully complied with every condition imposed on her, attended check-ins, followed directives, has never absconded, never missed hearings, and has remained in consistent communication with the government. None of that mattered. She spent 3 days detained here in Baltimore before being shipped off to Louisiana.
She was employed. Bought her house in 2024. Just adopted a puppy. Had a pet parrot. And lived alone. If no one had known she was taken, her pets would have died. Nobody had any fucks to give. Now they want to ship her off to Guatemala or some other place she isn't from.
ICE needs to go. We're supposed to be better than this.
Stories like this one break my heart and infuriate me. I will NEVER forgive those who are okay with these crimes against humanity.

Gov Sherrill botched this up from the start. She sent in the State Police who teamed up WITH ICE to harass, intimidate and attack protesters. They allowed a POS banner to remain posted on a fence behind their lines. They used rubber bullets and tear gas on the protesters. They punished the prisoners because they can. I agree that Sherrill mishandled this from the get-go, and exchanged violent ICE operatives for equally brutal state police. Please, Scott, amplify this. It is unfair and untrue to give Sherrill a pass here.

I have seen people show up to protest ICE in person. It wasn’t ICE , it was the DOJ doing a raid for something else but they showed up because word got out it was ICE. I think it’s everyone’s duty as an American to show up and defend those that are targeted for detainment
While the machine is running on FEAR - it is also running on BIG MONEY and PACs that are not abiding by the rules . Donors like the GEO GROUP - who made a fortune renovating Delaney Hall and running it - were rewarded for the money they paid to the Trump Election Machine. In fact the new ICE czar worked for the GEO Group for 10 years. What is the role of Congress? Who is charged with providing oversight to these government contracts? Our tax dollars are financing the wealth machine for these businesses who make money torturing humans and depriving children of a prom and graduation. Shameful.
The uneducated white people who voted for Trump need to see that, although I don't think it will make any difference. Those I don't understand are the educated ones who insist on voting Republican. No exceptions. Today we honor Ariadna. A compassionate, determined young woman America needs to cherish. Some day we will say "I remember Ariadna when..."

Shut down every one of these concentration camps now. The one in Newark (I won't call it by its official name because it makes it sound like a college dorm. It is a concentration camp and we can't normalize it with such names) is operated by GEO. The CEO makes a $1M salary with a total of $15M in compensation while those held eat maggot-laden food, spoiled milk, and are denied even toilet paper. Unconscionable.

I do like my governor managed to get family visits started again in Delaney Hall. Now she needs to reign in the police in Newark. They refuse to let reporters cover the protests. I did not vote for her to cover up the story of Delaney Hall that accredited reporters are trying to cover. Reporters are pushed and abused until they are so far away that they cannot cover anything going on. Shame on the Newark Mayor Raz for allowing this to happen. The world needs to see what immigrants are forced to eat in this private jail. They need to be allowed to enter the facility and talk to the immigrants.
It is time to put to rest the idea that illegals are voting in our elections. The Republicans could only find 27 people. The feds website did not even find one.
Until ICE is disbanded, it needs to operate in the open. Happy the judge decided they could no longer get license plates that are not marked. The next step is operating body cams, identifying badges and no masks. If they are not engaged in unlawful activities, there is no need for them to hide.
I think it is important to point out that the vast majority of the people swept up by ICE are not criminals; they are here legally; ie, they are not illegal immigrants. Many have been abducted while following immigration rules.
Now that ICE is no longer a legitimate law enforcement agency, I see the negative downstream effect of the general public no longer respecting other law enforcement agencies as a result of criminal ICE activities.
This is not fair to the good people in law enforcement and creates a hostile environment for them. It will also create more violence.
And, this bozo needs to go back home. We need qualified people in charge who obey the law and live to real rule of law.
