We are reporting another ResistMap win today and we want you to feel good about your role in making it happen. Earlier this month we told you about the role ResistMap played in building the evidentiary record that led to criminal charges against ICE agent Christian Castro for the shooting of Julio Cesar Sosa-Celis. We filed public records requests for surveillance footage to prevent a cover-up, and combed the web for photos, footage, and reports. The day after the shooting, we found the smoking gun: An unmarked livestream with video from inside a home near where the chase ended. Our analysts were able to georeference that video and match it to the scene, and prove the DHS narrative was a lie. The evidence against the ICE agent was substantial enough for a Hennepin County prosecutor to file charges. Castro was arrested in Texas today. |
Eleven days after charges were filed, the Texas Rangers located him in Cameron County on the Mexican border and took him into custody.
Keeping the team and infrastructure that made this outcome possible running at full strength requires real resources, and right now we are $15,000 short of our monthly fundraising goal.
We need to close that gap before the month ends at midnight tonight. Chip in to help us get there.
